I have found and returned 2 wallets. One I found the person on linkedin and she sneakily gave me a reward which I would have rebuffed but was outwitted (not hard to do). She had had it stolen from her purse hanging on her chair at a DC steakhouse and the thief tossed it a mile away

Not long after that, I found a wallet at the same location (near the 14th st bridge). It had fallen off a cyclist and I had to chase him to return it. Let’s just say we were riding for different purposes and I was not the one in bibs.

Totally agree about the random tooth flossers everywhere. So gross.

I did return a wallet once. It was in the street. I checked the address and it was the house it was in front of. I assumed the dude dropped it out of his pocket after a night of drinking, because he was barely able to answer his door at 8am on a weekday to get his wallet back.

    Ooooh, fun question!!

    Let’s see, I’ve found….

-A pair of women’s gloves. Gave those to my wife
-Several one dollar bills found together on the side of Bradley Blvd. Wet and muddy and totally spendable
-A very well smashed and soaked iPhone (Ryan H actually spotted this but I picked it up…still have it for some reason)
-While riding near the Washington Monument a tourist handed me a mini Topeak multitool that is very handy and lives in my road bike saddlebag
-And my best find yet from last spring, a pretty decent puffy winter coat on the road next to the MoCo detention facility on Seven Locks. I washed it and wore it today in fact.

This morning in the trash in front of an Arlington tear down, new and in their original packaging, a garden hose nozzle with 7 settings (which I needed), universal anchor points (that I don’t have a need for, but hey, who knows when I might), and two boxes of 6d and 10d nails. There was more but there’s only so much I can stow in my pack and still pick up things at the grocery store tonight.

I found on Wilson Blvd the security badge for someone who had just started work at the FBI building downtown. I mailed it back to the FBI.
