That’s what I said to a man who was riding a CABI along the route 50 trail near Glebe Rd. Turns out he WAS lost. He was trying to avoid the cluster-f Metro was turning into due to the earthquake. He picked up a bike near the Navy Yards and was going to ride to Falls Church. He figured it was only 5 bucks and it was a nice day to ride. Little did he know that after 30 minutes he was going to start getting billed again, and that when he finally returned the bike he would be in for a unpleasant surprise when his bill came in the mail.

I gave him simple directions to get back to Rosslyn where he could dock the bike and pick up the Orange line a bit easier since it is a transfer station. I also gave him the Redtop cab number 222-2222.

You were very kind. He was trying to solve a difficult problem. Nevertheless, you were very kind.

On Sunday I saw a guy riding a CaBi on the C&O Canal heading eastwards between locks 6 and 7. That’s roughly at about the 6-6.5 mile mark. The pain and agony of riding the C&O on that type of bike is beyond my comprehension though he didn’t look particularly concerned or lost.
