    Hi all- We hope that everyone is healthy and safe.

    Monday’s agenda includes the following:
    1. Traffic Safety update from Alexandria’s Traffic Safety Officer, Lieutenant Jason North
    2. Stephanie Piperno, Trails Coalition Manager, will provide an update on the Capital Trails Coalition, including plans in nearby Oxon Hill and an update on the National Park Service Mount Vernon Trail Corridor Study
    3. An update from Jen Wiser, ACPS Safe Routes to School (SRTS Coordinator)
    4. Key upcoming events:

    • BPAC Mentor program re-start
    • Walkability and Health webinar: Building Strong, Vibrant and Resilient Communities, 1 pm Thursday, June 11.
    • Legislative update with panelists Senator Scott Surovell and Delegate Ken Plum; 12 noon, Wednesday, June 17.

    1. Introductions and Welcome – Jim Durham, Chair
    2. Alexandria Police Liaison Discussions – Lieutenant Jason North

    • Impact of coronavirus and recent events on Traffic Safety operations.
    • Traffic Crash information for May 2020 involving people walking and biking
    • Plan for implementing 2020 traffic safety legislation effective 1 July 2020:
    o HB1705 – Stop for Pedestrians.
    o SB 437 Vulnerable Road User.
    o HB1442 – Photo Enforcement:
    Vision Zero Action Plan strategy 4E.1 “Require all Alexandria Police officers to participate in the NHTSA’s pedestrian training for law enforcement.”

    3. Guest Speaker: Stephanie Piperno, Trails Coalition Manager.

    • Most of Virginia entered Phase Two on Friday, June 5; Northern Virginia and the City of Richmond remain in Phase One.

    • Mentoring program updated for social distancing in advance of re-starting

    Complete Streets Update

    • Alex Carroll, Complete Streets Coordinator, continues on temporary assignment with the City’s Emergency Operations Center
    • High Visibility Crosswalks on Duke Street – Completed west of Diagonal. The eastern portion of Duke Street will be completed in conjunction with paving projects
    • Safe Routes to School – Implementation of the existing recommendations continue; new walk audits will be completed pending the reopening of each school, normalization of traffic, and ability to observe student travel activity.
    • King-Callahan-Russell –Grant-funded project. Engagement plan and informational materials are being developed.
