    Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker is our guest speaker at BPAC’s meeting on Monday, Feb 11th. We have asked the Vice Mayor to share her vision for Transportation in Alexandria, including walking and biking. She is also interested in hearing our questions and concerns. You are invited and very welcome to join us.

    The program on Monday evening also includes the following:

    • Lieutenant Mike May, APD’s Traffic Safety Officer, will provide an update on recent and planned APD Traffic Safety initiatives.
    • Ms. Christine Mayeur, City Complete Streets Program Manager, will provide an update on progress and future plans for Vision Zero and Complete Streets projects

    4. Guest Speaker: Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker. We have asked the Vice Mayor to share her vision for Transportation, and her ideas about walking and biking in Alexandria.

    • BPAC Bike Mentoring program initiated.
    • SSSAS 5th Grade Girl Scouts voted to partner with BPAC to conduct a City-wide Bike Rodeo as part of April 27th Earth Day celebrations
    • Regional walk and bike planning discussions initiated with Arlington and DC BACs
    • Grant funding being pursued:
    o Submitted a BetterBikeShare grant application with Casa Chirilagua and Four Mile Run Park Conservancy
    o Working with ACPS to win a Safe Routes To School non-infrastructure grant
    o Working with NVRC to win a Virginia Highway Safety grant.
    • Meeting on Friday, Feb 15th with City Staff to start planning Bike Month activities
    • Virginia General Assembly Update: Hands Free driving bills passed both houses
    • BPAC General Liability Insurance Policy purchased.

    June 2019: Two Bike Rodeos: June 7th and June 8th
