The bicycle is a wonderful hobby. It takes you out, gives you the chance to do some cardiovascular health with minimal impact on the joints, and it is quite stimulating. However, fun ride can quickly turn miserable if you’re not wearing the right gear. Flappy jackets to create aerodynamic drag. Shoe is an open invitation to injury. sweaters that will keep the sweat and baggy pants can take a bicycle chain. Bad clothing choices have an impact. One of the painful decisions, however, decided not to wear shorts right.

There are many good reasons to wear cycling shorts before – more than showing off a heavily muscled thighs! The first advantage of cycling shorts is a fabric from which they are produced. Most are lycra, breathable, lightweight material that moves moisture away from skin and helps to cool down. Another advantage is that these shorts are skin tight to minimize air resistance.

Among the ‘close fit of synthetic material, cycling shorts offer comfort while driving and to prevent chafing and rashes. Chamois lining also protects you rub on the wheel seat. Finally, because these shorts fit tight enough so that they are actually a hug or a squeeze of the thigh muscles, reducing muscle fatigue.

When looking for shorts to wear the bike, the best material is lycra. In addition, the best short films made have many pieces of fabric sewn or panels. They may cost more, but it best suits you is worth the extra cost.

All that may be true. Please wear all the lycra you can find. There’s nothing I like better than watching lycra-clad poseurs eat my dust as this old geezer screams by in street clothes on my 25 year old bike, with shifters on the downtube, as God intended…:p

So far I’ve purchased whatever I find on sale. But I have to admit, I like Pearl Izumi the best for comfort and fit. That being said, I will continue to buy whatever I find on sale. From a female perspective I prefer to wear bike knickers because they stay in place, there is no shifting, and no riding up, but I wouldn’t wear them into the grocery store. :D

#1 reason for me, PADS!!! I broke my tailbone about ten years ago. My bike is horribly uncomfortable after even a mile without padded shorts, but with good shorts, I can ride a Century and only get a minor case of numbum. Being that I ride 500-700 miles a month, I definitely can’t afford to be uncomfortable.

BTW: GORGEOUS weather today, hope everyone got out on the saddle!
