Just wanted to see where people are watching fireworks. Our normal spot is on the hill between Iwo Jima memorial and Arlington National Cemetery… below the Netherlands Carillon. The last two years we’ve got grief from people for having our bikes there though. If you ride to that spot to watch, keep your bikes close together and laying down. Kickstands are forbidden. If you do that, it should minimize or eliminate folks asking you to move them.

Where else is it good to watch? Are there other displays that you’d like to bike to? We rode to Alexandria City’s fireworks a few years ago and loved them. Falls Church has had a good display that we saw a while back because it got delayed by weather. Riding west on the W&OD can open up seeing some of the displays in Fairfax. I haven’t looked to see who is doing them. I seem to remember watching in Herndon one year.

Have a good week and weekend.

I like the Iwo Jima spot. Here are some pictures I took from a few years ago:

I would think that if you want to take the trip into downtown DC to watch the fireworks from the National Mall, bike would definitely be the best option there. In past years there has even been a bike valet!

Bike valet is an awesome option. My office is right there, so I tend to just use EPA’s bike facility.

Thanks for the ideas Tim. Great photos too. :D
