Every morning I approach the intersection of North Portal and 16th Street and think “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”
Today it was a crash further down 16th that made this intersection even more hairy. There were two stuck busses blocking a lane of traffic, backed-up traffic blocking the intersection, a car making a U-turn to go back down Portal, and two cars trying to pass through the space where one could reasonably fit.

The signs here are very confusing about which way you can go. The one on the left suggests you can go around the traffic island and then straight. The one on the right says right turn only.

I bailed on my ride today. I always get caught up in riding daily during Freezing Saddles and forget that even though I’m gonna get out on my bike every day that doesn’t mean I can schedule back to back 230-40 mile rides.
Today I needed a rest day, which at this time of year means a solo 10 miler. Si I got out to the trail with no real plan. WHICH way to go?
