During the Civil War, a series of forts were built around Washington, DC to defend the area from enemy attacks. At Fort Ward, the Northwest Bastion was built and equipped with guns to repel the enemy.

    K2/5/24 – REPEL

This no right turn sign at the Intersection of Doom* in Arlington is illuminated for the first few seconds that the pedestrian light is on to REPEL cars coming off of rt 66 that want to turn right on red….. with limited success I might add. (I actually deleted a pic that had a car turning right when the light first came on.)

    * Lynn St. where cyclists hafta cross between the Custis trail and either the Mount Vernon trail to the right or key bridge to the left has become called the Intersection of Doom because there were so many 🚴‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏼s hit by cars.

    02/05/24 REPEL

Durong the Civil War, The Defenses of Washington included 68 forts like Fort Ethan Allen (now in North Arlington) where this bastioned earthwork lined with cannons helped REPEL attacks on Washington by the Confererate losers.

Looks like @CaseyKane50 and I think alike! Great to live in a place with so much great history nearby!!!

2/5/2024 – This “Woonerf” style street in Eckington has some features that are meant to invite pedestrians and repel drivers.  It could use some work.

There are many inviting areas at McCrillis Gardens, but this sign is meant to repel anyone who thinks the roof is one of them.

2/5 If only these could fully repel all dark forces. Maybe they only repel criminals dressed like the picture.

That is a very striking photo! Where are these figures located?
