This year I’m finally getting up and going to Coffee Club. Usually I make/drink my coffee at home and then hurl myself downhill and somehow land at work in the morning. So this is making for the opportunity to try new and interesting brew:

WTF Coffee Club (I think that’s the Thursday one?) at Whole Foods in Pentagon City–my first ever. The coffee was a carafe of drip so fresh they didn’t have a label on it. The important thing was it was caffeinated. It, and a good tail wind, had my flying to work.

Friday Coffee Club (Arlington) on a drizzly Inauguration Day! The drip coffee dejour was a Dark Indonesian roast with the flavors of dark chocolate. Also they didn’t give it to me in a ceramic mug which made me feel like an interloper and wasteful. :(

Sockneuring, coffeeneuring/coffeecatting, and doneuring in one prior to beerneuring. Donut was a run of the mill chocolate glazed Dunlin’ Donuts variety with a black decaf coffee. Nothing special but there are those cool socks. 6de8154afb5610536972627454af8ca1.jpga753365c5efcf688a208b06279d06543.jpg

Sockneuring, coffeeneuring/coffeecatting, and social butterfly. Coffee just a plain Jane decaf from Best Buns. But it was hot and that’s all that matters.

I enjoyed a very nice cappaccino at 202 Donuts and Coffee. I also checked out a doughnut.

Artifact coffee in Hampden, Baltimore, (in Union Mill) with QueenoftheMark. Coffee roasted by Counter Culture. I drank the regular drip blend, black, very good, complex flavors.

I finally made it to Tasty Donuts & Coffee on Eschersheimer Landstraße while they were open. I enjoyed a Tasty Lemon Donut with my Caffe Americano.

Peru Norte, grown by a farmers co-op in, not suprisingly, northern Peru, roasted by Zeke’s (from the Washington roastery I think, though they began in Baltimore)
This was at Sugar Shack in Arlington, with the fun folks of the doughneurring ride.

The coffee was pretty intense, almost sweet. I liked it.

Zeke’s DC has been doing some good stuff recently—gradually shedding their (not entirely fair, but I know where it comes from) reputation as Burned Beans R Us thanks to some real gems like that one.

Anyway, I think I may have won my own competition with a Sunday coffee ride for some Vigilante.

Nothing special for half of you, I know. It’s just a few lazy miles down one trail or another, just like every other Sunday, maybe head down to the Potter’s House for a chaser, add on a couple miles…

Today, Vigilante and the Potter’s House came to me. It’s the US Coffee Championships this weekend, and if you think I’m not going to put on my oh-so-on-point coffee cap and Evolutionshirt and get my caffeine on, you’ve probably not been reading this thread…and since you’re reading this thread, you’ve probably not been not reading this thread.

Right? Right.

So, really REALLY great coffee from around the country, around Texas, and just around the block. Somehow or other, I wound up with people just handing me beans they didn’t want to have to take back on the plane with them.

I’m not going to miss sleep one bit. You see those there? Those are three bags of highly coveted, rare, artesianal Delicious.

I Win.*

. . . and nobody even threw anything at my head this year.

*(Don’t worry, I’m still DQ’d from actually winning. The Pointed Prize shall still be awarded)
