To be fair here, users haven’t lost any data or the ability to extract their data from Strava. They just have lost the ability to have their data automatically synchronized from/to Strava (and potentially other third-party Strava supplement software). Of course, I do think Strava’s decision to limit the third-party tools that can be built around their data is unfortunate.

Yeah, this is ticking me off. The best thing about Strava was all the people making interesting data visualizations. I need to look into Garmin Connect’s and Runkeeper’s APIs. I’ve used both of the sites in the past.

of the Strava changes for third party apps.Thanks. Other than the strange definition of “deprecated”, this is a good read (skimread even) for anyone interested in Strava data and the directions they appear to be going… I’m almost surprised veloviewer and raceshape got to keep their access. Surely they are competing with Strava in Strava’s eyes.

I’m just glad I never invested much time in looking at Strava’s V1/2 APIs.

ParticipantI’m in talking to the cashier at the top of Mont Ventoux to buy a post card, and in walks a guy from the Gainesville Bike club… So I was able to negate his mileage today.
We had a short chat, but it was just funny seeing someone from there in the middle of France.

I somehow missed that https://tapiriik.com/ is now syncing Strava again. (I had disconnected my account when it had stopped working previously.) From his twitter feed, it suggests he’s not using their official API (I assume he’s just screen-scraping the website or using the unpublished APIs their website uses to fetch data).

CHALLENGE PROFILE: GAINESVILLE CLUB #1 TEAM IN THE NATION
NATIONAL BIKE CHALLENGEThis week marked the mid-point of the 2013 National Bike Challenge. Are you tired yet? The Gainesville Cycling Club isn’t. GCC, based out of Gainesville, Florida, retains its firm grip on the #1 national team ranking — having racked up 265,000 points, with the #2 team having earned just more than 138,000.
Yeah, blah blah blah whatever. They’ve got like 400 more people on their team than we do.

ParticipantWhatever. I think we should get exponentially more points for the number of people on the bike. Mrs. Mikey and my husband would have gotten ^3 last night!
Oh, and KIDICAL MASS ARLINGTON IS THIS SUNDAY VIRGINIA HIGHLANDS PARK 9AM EVERYONE SHOULD COME

ParticipantTwo points.
1 – no bonus points for Mikey. Just because.
2 – Gainesville has 3.06 times the members than BA (208 vs 68) and only 1.91 times the points (264417 vs 138590)
Additional stats this evening.

But how can it truly be a Better World without a year’s supply of toilet paper? Guess I’ll find out and let y’all know!
The important papers have arrived…

Mikey wins a Sierra Nevada jersey! Unless there’s a different Michael Essig competing from Virginia? I know someone with a year’s supply of toilet paper that might want to trade…
So, Mikey, about that jersey…

With the photo tilted sideways, it looks like you’re oddly planking on the boxes.

Hope they sent you the soft and plushy kind.
