Not a fan of how Endomondo defaults to showing monthly results instead of overall results with the change to June.
Here I try to impress my wife with being in the top 1000 (and therefore convince her I deserve a new bike!), I login
and it shows me in place 1935. Granted all I have to do to see my nice little 900th-ish place is change the
time period to “Challenge Period”, but still annoying.

    Anyone else bothered by this?

Yes, Endomondo should allow the user to set his/her own defaults, such as making “Cycling, transport” the default category should one prefer that.

Today is your last chance to join the National Bike Challenge and get credit for your May miles! You can join tomorrow but your May miles expire at midnight. I’ve reached out to some of the Freezing Saddles riders and each has signed on (with a little resistance in some cases) except for DaveK who is not going to be on the winning team unless he acts soon. Maybe I should have invited more people but I didn’t want to be a pest. Steve Claeys, Brad Hancock, Steve Offutt, Ken Buja, John Zanner, KEVIN ULRICH, Mike Collins, Kevin Obenland, Sean Chisham, Steve Appel, Randy Napiza, MARK BLACKWELL, Michael Jolley, Crystal Bee, etc. consider yourselves invited. Or sit on the sideline with DaveK. The team is strong. I don’t think we need more riders to win, but you’re all welcome to be a part of our success and if you don’t join and we don’t win, it’s your fault! :D

I did join the challenge back at the beginning, but I guess I didn’t get on the team. Now I’m on the team, and all my points are added on.
Huge pain to use this END ‘O THE WORLD thingy, though. Not motivated enough to figure out a technical solution, so I just hand enter.

Growing up with a classic Jewish mother has made me immune to guilt trips. I caved because of the handy-dandy website you linked. If I don’t have to deal with the hellfire and damnation of the Endomondo website, it’s a breeze.

Understood. I must give credit to hozn for finding and posting that link. I think a lot of our team wouldn’t have joined if they weren’t made aware of it. Thanks, Hans!

The Team Activity page seems to be limited to the first 50 members (alpha sort). I pinged Endomondo but it is not clear what that will accomplish.

This did bother me before today but I was not moved to comment on it until I got bumped. :p

Especially unfortunate since the stats for 6 of our 9 highest placed riders cannot be seen. 14 of us cannot view our daily or monthly mileage now. This list is where I would go to see my monthly stats for the last year. I don’t know how to review my mileage now. :(

Stats from a few minutes ago. BA All Stars is solidly in the size category lead. Note that six of the top 11 teams are in our size category and we are rocking that group. In terms of rider activity, BA All Stars have logged an average of 994 points, 119 points better than number 2 and half again better than most.

The top three are highlighted in green.

    Enjoy

That is my default category, haha. No idea how I did that though.

The Federal Bike Challenge is now complete. The voting has been locked. The Grand Stands have been taken down and shipped back to Cleveland.

The linked to spread sheet contains a draft of the results of the Federal Bike Challenge for Washington, D.C. offices.

    Okay, lots of clarifications:

First, who is a Washington, D.C. Fed agency. I have no idea. A weakness of this challenge is it lacked geographic info (assuming that we were all in Seattle I suppose). You could not sort teams based on geography and there was all but no geo information on the team page. So, I, er, guessed. If I guessed wrong, let me know. Included someone who is actually a Guam team? I can take them off. Didnt include someone cause I could not figure out your cryptic team name; I can add them.

Scoring. Well this is a bit odd and there is much guidance from the challenge. There twas miles ridden, trips commuted, and percentage of commutes that was by bicycle. So what does that add up to? I created a cumulative score. I ranked all the teams by miles (first to last); I ranked all the teams by trips; I ranked all the times by percentages of commutes by bike – added up those rankings – and the team with the lowest score was got first place. This seemed to work.

    Comments?

I’ve got “Cycling, transport” as my favorite sport, but my uploads default to “Cycling, sport.” Maybe it’s something on the Garmin?

Can you still register? The website seems to say you can, but doesn’t say whether they’ve reached capacity:

In person packet pick-up will be run at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport (1999 Jeff Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA), on Friday between 2-6pm, and on Saturday, between noon and 6pm. You can also register on ride morning at the on-site Registration tent, near the start/finish line (Register now as we are likely to reach rider capacity early this year!!)
    – $45 General Entry
    – $35 Discounted Entry (Active Duty/Reserve Military Personnel, Retired Military)
    – $5 Late fee after May 31.
    – On-line registration closes midnight, June 2nd
We will offer limited walk-up spots on Friday, June 7th at packet pick-up after 3pm. We will continue to offer walk-up spots until we are sold out. Check back here for updated status.

If anyone is going to packet pick-up, could you please ask and post? And line length, if you don’t mind?

    Thanks!

Can we somehow manage to have someone from the Arlington/DC/NoVa/MD area win the toilet paper every month of the contest? We would lead the nation in winners of toilet paper. No one could ever match those bragging rights. Ever.

Please provide details on the award. Yeah I know it is a year’s worth of TP but I’ve mused on the logistical arrangements. Is it a big honkin’ box in your basement, a monthly shipment, or a book of coupons that can be used at the local store? And how do they know how much you use? Some previously undisclosed aspect of the NSA PRISM program we have been hearing about?

    Inquiring minds want to know.
