ParticipantUpdate: my wife called it in to 911 who said that they couldn’t (wouldn’t?) dispatch anyone because there were no witnesses around anymore. She then called the precinct who said that because she didn’t get hit and because the woman had temporary tags (apparently they won’t be able to trace them [????]) there was no point to filing and then proceeded to go off on how bikers do crazy things as well.

ParticipantThankfully a Missed Connection: My wife was taking a full lane this morning preparing to turn right (Penn&20th NW, I think) when a driver zoomed past within inches. When she caught up to the car at the next light and asked the driver to give more room next time, the woman replied that she should ‘get a cop or get a car.’ Ugh.
All she was able to get: black sportscar w/ soft top, temp tags 87818R (not sure about state), watch out if you see around.Xarici

I’m hoping to try out the WMRT for the first time this or next week. Do you recall if the cicadas were out along the route? I hate bugs.
We did most of it over Memorial Day weekend (also a break from the C&O) and I don’t recall any, though not sure it being a bit chillier would be a factor.

ParticipantForum newbie here- had a great L St. cycletrack interaction on my way home last night: A car was blocking the bike portion of the merge so I and some others were waiting for them to clear. A fire truck was next to us and he had his window down- He said it was rude of them to block the lane, to which I agreed and he then proceeded to get on his megaphone telling the car that they were blocking the lane- “Hagerstown Honda Plate ____, you are blocking the bike lane and being rude!” Awesome.
