This is my bike, no joke. Let the flames begin
Nice track bike, no reason for flames (assuming your pedal brakes work). Looks like you have effective commuting tires, can you share what they are?

Participantskarab, how are you making out on your bike commuting?

ParticipantLots of good advice so far.
One possibility is to ride to West Falls Church Metro via the routes mentioned above and take a quick hop on the Fairfax Connector 425/427, one of which will take you almost right to your conference hotel. You can park your bike at West Falls Church or put it on the bus rack and take it with you. I’ve struggled with Tysons bike commutes in the past and traversing the last mile or so can be compared to entering a giant maw of whirling scimitars…

ParticipantI agree the officer is trying to dissuade you from filing an assault charge, and is betting that you’ll just melt into the background.
I would strongly suggest that you contact an attorney that is experienced in cycle matters (like Bruce, etc) and have them hear your case. You have absolutely nothing to lose if they decline, but can change the system for the better if you go forward.

ParticipantTuscany, Italy has a number of great bike routes to explore;

ParticipantOne very safe route to take is to pedal to West Falls Church Metro (take Grove Ave from the trail) and then take the Fairfax Connector 425 or 427 right to Tysons, using the bus’ bike rack.

ParticipantThere’s also a farmer’s market in Purcellville 10am – 1pm (http://www.purcellvillecommunitymarket.com/ ), and tends to be really hopping in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Another farmer’s market in Leesburg year around about 1/2 mile off the trail, 9am – noon ( http://www.loudounfarmersmarkets.org/Winter.php )
Another in Ashburn from May to October 8am – noon ( http://www.loudounfarmersmarkets.org/Ashburn.php )

ParticipantThere are other tasty dining establishments in Purcellville, such as Mom’s Place, Penn’s Kitchen, etc.
If it is spirits you are interested in, Purcellville also has Catoctin Distillery ( http://catoctincreekdistilling.com/ ).
Leesburg also has Vintage 50 brewery ( http://www.restaurantbreweryloudoun.com/ ).

Only made worse by the fact that it’s all downhill all the way back to Leesburg
There’s roughly a 170 foot rise from around Ivandale to Clarke’s Gap. Otherwise, yes.
Noticed a bike commuter this morning climbing Rt 9 on the approach to the Rt 7 bridge using the shoulder instead of the trail. Wasn’t acting as a vehicular cyclist, so not sure why he was making that statement. That stretch of the road can be quite chaotic at rush hour.

ParticipantI’ll take it, sending a PM to establish a meeting time/place.

I use my phone GPS to map rides sometimes, though that’s the thing that told me I was biking in Rock Creek, and that I hit 53mph on Hains Point.
Do you have an Android with ant+ or iPhone?
Speed and cadence sensor compatible with any ANT+ receiving device:

ParticipantAt first I thought it might be about Bluemont in Loudoun (!)
Great video, look forward to more such adventures.

ParticipantOne way to insert more alternatives into route planning is to consider taking a short hop on a bus with bike racks.

ParticipantGreat use of trails, MUPs, sidewalks, and back streets for the major portion of the ride. And a perfect distance/time.

Hi,
To the person who experienced a concussion….how long did it take before you were back to normal? And are you really back to normal?
I had a medium headache for almost 24 hours (and I rode gently the remaining 4 miles to the office). A few days later, I felt slightly headachy again a couple of times, though that could have been sinus related. I wasn’t quite on my game for about 2 weeks. Of course, my circumstances sound a bit simpler than yours, so I don’t think they are necessarily comparable.
