I suspect that this will have to happen. The indication from his profile is that his altimeter has been seriously screwed up for the entire last year (4 million feet of climbing over 1,600 miles last year). It’s so screwed up that just one ride where it’s not updated will skew the graph.
I’m holding off on my rant about the number of trainer rides that I’ve seen already without #nobafs.
Just let a friend of mine who’s a newbie to FS know about the #nobafs thing for trainer rides!

ParticipantWABA just tweeted that the tow path and CCT are reopened. Crazy stuff.

HP Laps get you as close to Enlightenment as possible without moving into a Buddhist Monastery.

Totally agree. I’ve even started doing laps around HP for my run training. The heated, 24/7 bathrooms make it even better.

Bike parking for the Freezing Saddles Happy Hour:
There are 15 racks between Bier Baron and Dupont Circle, which will hold about 70 bikes, plus assorted poles and other things to latch onto.
There is also Capital Bikeshare, assuming you can find a space in which to dock your bike.
And Bier Baron is located near the Dupont Circle Metro, if you opt to take transit instead.
Background:
We’ve tried many other options, with no luck.
Church of the Pilgrims
–dkel called Church of the Pilgrims and was told no.
–I followed up with the church by phone and email, but ultimately they said they rent out their garage in the evenings to a nearby hotel.
–I checked with the specified hotel to make a deal with them, and they said they only rent out the church garage on weekends.
–I talked to the church again. They were not pleased that I had called the hotel. I asked whether we could use the garage after the 6 pm exodus from the pre-school.
–Eminva called the church today and got a final no. Three strikes, we’re out!
The statue out front of the Bier Baron
Unfortunately it turns out that the statue is on land owned by National Park Service. Their permitting office says we would need to pay $120 just to apply for a permit and it would take a couple weeks. This is the same permit they’d require for a demonstration of 1000 people or more…but their paper-pushers don’t care about the distinctions. If they catch us there without a permit (e.g., if an officer drives by during the HH), we are told they will remove our bikes. No comment. [FYI, NPS does not know the date of our event.]
DC public school
I got permission from the principal at School Without Walls to set up bike parking in their outdoor lot. We would hire our own guards for this location. But I’m told there’s little interest in this option since it’s three blocks away. So we’ll likely tell the school no thank-you.
Capital Bike-Share Corral
Henry/Bike Arlington and I have been discussing the possibility of a bike-share bike corral, but apparently it’s too expensive… hundreds of dollars…out of our price range.
Racks
–WABA is not able to loan us their racks. There’s a bike valet service but the cheapest deal they offer is $250. And we’d still have the problem of where to put the racks. In summary, it seems our best option is to rely on existing racks and poles in the neighborhood and to latch on with a sturdy U-lock. Or to try and grab a couple parking spaces out-front of the Bier Baron for an improvised bike-parking like we did last year.
Wow, thank you for going above and beyond to get this figured out! I will be riding my crappy commuter bike there, so I’ll be happy to park it a little bit further away to leave more lock-up spots for nice bikes closer to the bar.

I’m probably going to have to arrive by car. Bleh. Training in Frederick that day and I won’t have time to get home and bike there. Still trying to figure out how I can get my 30 miles a day that week without the bike commute.

I had to reread this a few times to make sure this actually said 30 miles PER DAY. The daily riding streak you have going is already nuts. I didn’t realize you had this added level of craziness on top of that!

Hmm…well I do already store my 4 bikes in my apartment. I feel like 75 should work JUST FINE.

Well, I’m attempting to fit about 18 people into my one bedroom apartment for a holiday cookie party this weekend, so I’ll use that a gauge for the maximum head count for the after party.

ParticipantIf anyone was planning some early pre-rain HP laps in the morning (like I was), it looks like a 10k race will have the road closed until 9:30am. http://www.active.com/washington-dc/running/distance-running-races/race-for-equal-justice-5k-10k-2016

ParticipantI’m planning to do about 40mi of HP laps in the morning going from 9am-noon (if I can keep my toes warm enough!), and then I’ll be back for some laps that evening. If the weather is as bad as it looks like it might be, I will most likely be there around 6:30ish and will bail around 8pm.

Oh I am, am I?? Yeah, ok, I probably will buy you a beer.

ParticipantNo problem! It was a last minute decision. I had a good time spectating, and I met SteveO and Sunyata in person. There are two more weeks of racing left, and I think the last week especially will be fun.
TriGirlSara
ParticipantAwesome! I’ll be in a grey and black diamond pattern bike jersey with a green backpack. I’ll be spectating not racing!
and what is this water park you speak of??
