ParticipantIt took me six months to finally get around to replacing the battery after I ordered the new one, but I did it in about 20 minutes and everything went smoothly. Everything is as good as new and it even retained all my screen settings and preferences.

Tim, you owe me one for doing my part to increase your web traffic during the slow months. I suspect others can do an even better evil inner projection than Judd.
Thanks Ed! You always certainly add a bit of color to the conversations around here.
Fun fact–it’s actually the winter when the forum has it’s peak traffic. During the summer most people are busy out riding!
Another fun fact: the majority of visits happen on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. You people need to get back to work! *judging eyes*

Can I merely express my amusement that DC and Maryland are being treated as “suburbs” of Arlington?

ParticipantUpdate on this! Looks like the the next phase of closures are happening at the end of the month.

Closure of Four Mile Run Trail below S. Eads St. Starting February 27th
Construction on the Four Mile Run Restoration project is proceeding well. The southern portion of the trail, below S. Eads Street, was kept open as long as possible during construction as a connection to S. Eads St. This section will be closed starting on February 27, 2017, for no longer than 3 months. View the trail detour map.

ParticipantBanana! Very high on the glycemic index for fast energy to get you through an earlier morning ride.

A friend of mine rode up it a few years back. It sounded very epic. I guess the road turns into gravel/dirt toward the top? He also mentioned the hydro brakes fading out on the descent. That sounds terrifying.
This was the same friend that decided he would try a triathlon, but would skip to the chase and just do an Ironman.
Yeah, I can only wonder what it would be like to have that much drive.
And it’s a completely different temperature at the top too–take a jacket if you plan on hanging out at all.

Speaking of coasting downhill, here’s something Tim might post: how does your descending technique compare to this?
Every time I see this posted, I have to watch it. Lady on the moped going no-hands to get the photo and then clipping back in–good luck!!

ParticipantFrom what I’ve heard, it sounds like Trek is cutting out the middle man by buying up a bunch of shops around the county from an ageing demographic of 65+ year old owners from around the country who don’t have an exit plan from retiring from the bike business.
Clarendon will likely get a remodel after the summer season as one of the “Concept Stores“
Now they’ll be able to carry a bunch of sizes at the ends of the bell curve for non-normal sized humans. Yay!

ParticipantFrom seeing it person, it’s not nearly as bright or obvious as the video shows. I wouldn’t hold your breath on it coming to Capital Bikeshare any time soon.

ParticipantToo bad that they aren’t selling the KPP anymore since Revolution has been acquired by Trek. Big changes in the look and feel are coming!
(They are still honoring previously purchased warranties though)

I ran into (not literally) a neighbor last night. She is a casual cyclist until…. She was riding this detour in November and broke her finger. She was at the blue arrow in the outside lane. Two gents were riding toward her in the other lane. According to her, they were taking the curve aggressively and the one in the back was trying to keep up. Her and his handlebars hit one another, and her finger got caught in the middle. She declined a trip to the hospital but later learned that her finger was broken.
Where can I report this? I want it in the data.
Like you want to file the crash with the police? Try this: https://police.arlingtonva.us/online-police-reporting-system/ or give them a call as listed on the site.

You’re right–at that point it’s still Clarendon Blvd!
