It’s hard to think of a more fun way to get BAFS points. A bike ride that makes a picture! This event is open to all freezing saddles riders

I’m afraid I’ll have to withdraw from the ride tomorrow. The weather plus some issues at home will keep me away. Those who go, stay warm!

I’m also going to bow out. Thanks for organizating.

Not necessary, IMO. But whatev.
Puzzled by the comment… is there a photo and/or hint police? Just trying to “consider Thee Calvinball a Hot-potatoe game – not a hide-and-seek game.”

Giraffey has just arrived in the District, but just barely. He found a quiet spot to share some quality time with the “Forgotten Founder”, and although not in eye shot of the Potomac, he still gets whiffs of it’s aroma. He’s hoping that a late commuting Fed might provide him with an opportunity to observe how the gears of government work with at least a half day of “Take a Giraffe to Work Day”. And no need to worry about the Fireball bottle! Giraffey already diligently deposited it in the recycle bin.

Weather update for Sunday’s Bakeries, Brews, and Booze ride: we’ve got the classic good news and bad news. The good news is that the temperatures are likely to be warmer than what the forecasters were predicting earlier this week. The bad news is that it’s likely to start raining in the afternoon.
Sunday is the last day I can lead this ride before the end of Freezing Saddles, so I’m inclined to go ahead despite the forecast. Depending on the weather, I might cut out the middle third of the ride — i.e., after visiting Meadworks, we’ll go straight to Sangfroid Distilling and Streetcar 82. Bring your rain gear. And if the forecast makes you change your mind about coming, no worries.
If the forecast takes a turn for the worse and I need to cancel the ride entirely, I’ll post an update here no later than 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
I plan to join you at Velo Café.

After a couple of “take a giraffe to work days”, Giraffey was in the mood to indulge in some forbidden Fireball… and generously shared with his newfound buddies. We agreed to restock Calvinball with some chocolate (from one chocoholic to hopefully another), and to venture into the District tomorrow morning, but just barely, and with the hope to be settled into a spot just a stone’s throw from the Potomac by 9am.

Excellent! I’ll sleep easy knowing he’s not going to roll down the hill into the water, or be picked up by a dog on a walk!
Ironically, from a distance as I approached the spot I saw a guy already there and assumed that Giraffey had just been collected, but it turned out to be a guy walking his dog, and they ended up helping me find the Giraffey bag!

You’ll find Giraffey hanging out waiting for a trail bridge yet to be built on the Alexandria side / 4 Mile Run Park… where he learned more about birds by reading the little nature signs along the grassy edge of the trail…

I got the coordinates from clicking on Google Maps (since the first few hiding spots weren’t on roads, it defaulted to the coordinates rather than a street address). Anything that allows drevil to add it to the route will work
At this point, I think all that’s missing is the “best bike shop in the city” where you hid Hobbes on 1/24 and the mini-forest where you found Hobbes yesterday.
The mini-forest where sszibler retrieved Hobbes on 1/30 is mid-way through the alley from 303 N West St and 308 N Payne St in Alexandria.

Funny and wonderful I found SH just as you were coming out to head over to the not really extravaganza!
Delighted to see that you and Hobbes made it to and fro without freezing to death!

Hey, I’ve got a bright idea! Pick up Hobbes and then bring him along to Team 10 Snow Patrol’s beer drinking extravaganza at New District Brewery!!! We’ll be there by 8 or come by Conte’s Old Town at 7:15 and ride over.
Sorry, Team 10’s beer drinking extravaganza is instead at 8pm on Friday.
