Is there extra points for two Freezing Saddles players riding in the same car?

If the two fs members are teammates, then that would be 2 points on the same team, though there is no team classification for this prize.

ParticipantWent out to get some snowy miles, but I made an amateur move, and under inflated my tire. Just when I pulled out, my front tire went flat from a pinch flat.
I persisted on very slowly, and holding my weight as far back over the rear wheel as I could, and I was able to get just over a mile of a ride in.

ParticipantI was all geared up for my snow ride. Photos were going to be taken, and epic points were to be earned. Right up until my front tire went flat from a pinch flat. I guess I’ve lost my touch with changing tires.
I managed to get in just over a mile for the points on the flat front tire, but no photo.

ParticipantGood morning fellow chillers! Sorry I wasn’t able to be at the HH last night to meet my fellow 9ers.
I live in Alexandria, but work in Takoma Park. I am looking at commuting bike/metro/bike to pick up some miles for BAFS. On Saturday mornings I usually ride with the Conte’s OT shop ride that rolls out at 8:30 for 20-something miles.
Looking forward to linking up with the rest of the crew for some team miles soon.

Just to clarify, only one of the rides to or from Metro counts right? So if you do bike-metro-bike you would only tag one of the rides?
You don’t have to make it separate rides. If you pause your computer/app when you arrive at the metro station, then un-pause when you arrive at your destination station to record the remainder of the trip to your final destination it won’t record the metro trip as part of the bike ride.
The map will show a straight line from your departure metro station to your final metro station, regardless if you had to change lines or not. Just don’t forget to pause and un-pause. Then just tag #BAFSMETRO, and upload your photo here!

I picked up a pair of Defrosters before last winter. They are good and warm. Specialized claims they run large so you don’t need to size up for bulky socks. I did not find that to be the case. They fit with winter socks, but tighter than I would like.
Thanks for the insight. I visited Spokes to try on Specialized shoes for size, and the rep told me they run in odd sizes. 9.6, 10.6, etc. I wear a 9.5 street shoe, so I want to be sure I don’t go too big and lose my feet in the shoe.

ParticipantI’ve got a smart phone mount, salsa cowchipper bars, lizard skin tape, and a craftsman beam torque wrench.
But the big item I am asking for is $200 in gift cert money from a lbs to use toward a pair of winter cycling boots. I’ve got my eyes on the specialized defroster trail boots.
No new bike for me this year [emoji19].

One correction. Delete what’s in red in paragraph below:
Freezing Saddles is a game organized by friends in the Washington Area Bike Forum. It is a hat tournament style competition where participants are randomly assigned to teams based on some weird system the Washington Area Bike Forum has come up with over the years. Communications and organization will be through the Washington Area Bike Forum.
Question: 250 registrations = how many teams? I can’t remember how many people per team (you would think I should know since I was a team captain last year). But 250 is only “easily” divisible by 10, so that would mean 25 teams. Is that what we’re aiming for?
Why not 10 teams of 25 riders?

that thread is all good info.
I’ll throw in my unpopular opinion here though since my commute is 20 miles each way as well. As my screen name implies, I ride an ebike. I started for fitness. I had gotten fat and out of shape (300 lbs, 6′, scary BMI). When I was younger, I had biked a lot including some commuting, so it was trying to get back into shape. When I started, I had to use every bit of assistance the bike would give me. Over the past 9 months, I’ve been dialing it back and will continue to do so until I can do my commute on a regular bike. That said, I’ve ridden regular bike some days and yeah, it’s tough. Mostly because I’m still about 50 lbs overweight. Even when I get to the point where I can commute regularly on an unassisted bike, I might still find myself taking the ebike a couple days a week. The ability to turn up the assistance level if I’m sore or mentally fatigued or even if my knees are bothering me is a great thing. (or when there’s a 22 mph headwind like today’s ride home). Some people will look down on you, but honestly, I’ve had quite a number of other commuters mention to me that they’re thinking about an ebike for their commutes because it would allow them to do it 5 days a week vs 3-4. That doesn’t mean they’re planning on flying down the trail at 30 mph, but being able to maintain 15-17 mph for 40 miles per day 5 days a week without killing themselves.
anyways, food for thought. and a plug for juiced bikes since they make a really affordable ebike with really good range.
Thank you for your input. This is something that I have thought about, but at this very moment as a new homeowner, the funds aren’t available for another bike.

Wanna get there quicker, take a more direct route.
So instead of riding up to 14th st bridge on the MVT, I should just get a pack raft to cross the Potomac/Anacostia from Belle Haven to get up to MoCo?

Sure, everyone has the socks, but do they have the wheels that match?

Ok, so the wheels don’t match, but I figure I should still get credit for the shoes, bike, and bar tape that match the socks.
