Hi everyone, I’m Sam. I live in Woodridge (Not Woodbridge), in northeast DC. I do some work with WABA’s advocacy committee, as well as some biketivism. I normally commute to and from work every day along with other transport and errands, but health issues are keeping from being on my bike as much as I would like. That said, I rode every day last BAFS, and fully intend to do so again. This is my third time, and my first year my team rocked at capture the flag. It was super fun! So, I encourage everyone to get involved in that.

I’ll use this opportunity to state my strong preference for email over the forum. To me the forum is just one more thing that I have to log in and check every day, whereas email is always getting pushed to my mobile device anyway. Since this thread isn’t very active, i think it’s a good idea to email everyone anyway. BAFS isn’t really fun without the reindeer games, in my opinion!

Hi, Sam! Nice to meet you.

Thanks for weighing in on forum vs. email. Since I don’t have email addresses for any of you, it may be easiest to rely on the Strava group discussion for coordinating HP laps, rides, happy hours, etc. for now. I’ll continue to crosspost team events here, to make sure everyone sees them.

Still happy to get a group email going; you guys could post your email addresses here or send them to me (marissa.newhall@gmail.com).

Alright everyone, I’m exercising executive Team Captain authority and naming our team 2Fast, 2Frozen. Mostly because, much like Sara, it makes me laugh — and if you can’t laugh while biking in a -1 degree wind chill, what CAN you do, really?

Strava team name updated accordingly –> https://www.strava.com/clubs/250629

Also, the Strava team is now INVITE ONLY, to prevent other teams (*cough* TEAM 10 *cough*) and other randos from trolling our squad. If you request to join, and are a legit 2Fast, 2Frozen team member, I will approve your membership in short order.

Haha, thanks Chris — I was wondering what that was all about. Nice to meet you. I think it’s pretty nifty that Team 2 is global!

Ignore Bogdan from Kyiv on our Strava team. He seems to join every club on Strava and I never did meet him in person last year.

I know HH was my idea… But I’m not going to be able to make it. Sorry, guys.

Seems like several people are out of town or not available. Should we try for next week?

How’s it going, team? It’s been a tough week for me — busy at work and my dog has been really sick — so I haven’t gotten in as many miles as I normally would. Hope you enjoy the weather on Sunday, wherever you are.

Oh, and who’s game for a happy hour this week or next? Maybe Bluejacket on a dry night, so we could crush some HP laps beforehand?

Hey SOGO… I’ll be down at HP around 9:30AM for a couple laps for Team TC. Hope to see you there! Dave

Way to go, Dave! I had a failure to launch from bed on time this morning, so I’m not sure when I’ll make it over there. [emoji26]

Hey there team 3! I’ll be back in DC tomorrow, and I’m planning to drive to Hains Point to run a few laps and then ride a few laps. I’ll probably be riding around 12:30 or 1pm if anyone wants to join me. I’ll be on my blue and white tri bike Trek tri bike!

My plan for tomorrow is AM Hains laps to beat the rain, followed by nachos for lunch at Las Placitas at 8th and I SE (their new location). The declining weather forecast makes me sad. :( Hope to see some of you out there!

Sorry for the radio silence, comrades. I was suuuuuper sick and missed 3 riding days. I have never felt so sad about not riding. :(

I’m back on the bike today. I also picked up a 30-day CaBi membership for those days when I’m not with my bike all the time. And I’ll see you at the happy hour, albeit a little on the later side.

    Safe rides.

    I officially have low-mileage cabin fever. :(

It seems like a lot of snow and ice is melting now that the sun is out, so I would like to try to get in a longer ride tomorrow when the temps are warmer. Has anyone done laps at Hains since the blizzard? I’m curious if the bike/pedestrian path along the Francis Case bridge has been cleared enough to ensure safe passage.

Also running late, but I’m en route. I’m in a purple-ish down coat and green hat.

I also Metro’d, despite my intense dislike for it. My skinny tires are no match for the 1/2-inch of ice that covered my neighborhood’s streets when I left the house at 6:30 this morning (they were barely a match for walking home after snow last night). Safety first, my friends.

Looking forward to seeing folks tonight, regardless of transportation methods.
