ParticipantSomeone should do a story on how the WJLA traffic van causes rubberneckers on the side of the road while reporting a story.

ParticipantI’m not buying this. There are already laws on the books that cover passing and safe distance. This bill is grandstanding and will only serve to fuel the “us vs them” fire. I’d much rather have the legislature spend their time on more fruitful bills, like the Idaho Stop.

ParticipantJust had my first session today. I found a place on Glebe Rd next to Marymount. Plenty of parking. The only bad news is my therapist doesn’t want me riding outside for a few weeks

On an unrelated note…
vvill, we’re moving to Cherrydale in a few months, and I’ll have the option of going a bit out of the way to get on the trail at Nelson, or take Lee Hwy for a few blocks (from the old firehouse, to be exact) and getting on the trail at that horrible corner. Thoughts? (Oh, and I’m no Dirt on the hills — fewer / less steep hills = better)
Soon to be my neighbor. We live right next to the old fire station in the townhouses. You can use my air compressor any time you want!

ParticipantI wear the stock iPhone headphones when riding so I can listen to NPR and handle calls. They make these clips for the headphones called earbudi that keep them in place. Still can hear plenty of ambient and most people can’t even tell that Im riding.

You probably don’t realize it but the Custis heading east has a downward slope to it for most of the ride (which makes the hills a lot of fun) so heading west on it requires a lot more effort esp if you start in Rosslyn. That’s why most people do the WOD-Custis-MVT-FMR going clockwise.
I can’t speak to the other parts of the route of which you speak.
The route is circle, start and finish in the same place.

Lots of sizes, $50
I finally took these out for a spin. They are basically a sandle with a neoprene bootie around it, and they can handle SPD cleats. For the price, not too bad. For the really cold stuff I will try a bootie on the outside for a double layer.

ParticipantI ran back in forth one of them a few dozen times, so subtract a few. I was bored.

I always do on my bike commute to work. It’s nice that McKinley has replaced their old style slot racks, but the new wave style still isn’t the recommended type. Do you think the poll watchers will double as bike monitors?
It was packed. Garvey, Fergeson and Tjeada each commented on my outfit.

ParticipantI only use the Sheldon Brown method. I’m a lock snob.
