    Hahaha, looking forward to it.
I’ll be riding a hipster fixed gear in that amazing kit of mine..an awkward combination I know, but that’s what I get for having the wrong bike in the car and being late for work.

And I’ll be keeping an eye on my shoulder during the ride so I may or may not bail if it starts to bother me.

Hmm, I might be able to make it to the start point of the map (Union station) by 5:30. If I’m not there, don’t wait up.

Hey Dirt, about when were you thinking of leaving? Tomorrow looks to be too nice a day not to ride.

(would it be the same route as you posted on the first page?)

what a night. get out of work, park my car in rosslyn and hop on my bike to go over to rugby. everything’s going smooth, people are being considerate.
waitin at a light at Q and New Hampshire and a series of 6 cyclists roll by and then two topple over in the middle of the street. apparently one didnt check before she tried to make her left turn and went right into the other cyclist. me and two other folks rolled over and helped them up, gathered their stuff and moved to the sidewalk. i helped fix her brake and everyone was being civil; the offender was apologetic and offered her number in case something needed to be fixed. so, im humming along all happy and smiley thinking of what a good samaritan i am, then i get to rugby practice. joggin around, and we start the touch rugby warm-up. i big guy falls into me while my hands are up about to catch a kick and my left shoulder dislocates. welllllll crud. there goes my season. (the ligaments are loose in both shoulders, so it wasn’t tooo big of a surprise) oddly enough, the bike ride home wasn’t painful, but i can’t lift my arm up past my shoulder height.
i thought karma was gonna be on my side tonight :( guesss not

the best i’ve got in recent memory is after a day of delivering jerseys to friends all over boston on a cold, slushy, snowy day my gps dies while im on my way to my last stop. i pull over to ask for directions from a ped and they don’t know where i’m heading, but as soon as i say “ok, no worries, thanks though” i hear the *woop woop* of a siren, and a police F-150 pulls over with their window down and without me saying a thing asks, “where you trying to go?” he looks up the directions on his police comp and sends me on my way with both of us smiling. pretty great interaction, and rare for boston if i may say so.

Hahaha i welcome it all quite happily. That was the whole point of the kit, to be as obnoxious and colorful as possible, just because we could. The back of it has “TEAM SLOW BIKE” written in massive letters. If you head up to Boston there’s about 20 other owners of the kit, we also have one in France, and another in Seattle :).

I tend to heal well in most instances, but my elbows and palms usually take the brunt of the falls when I’m mountain biking, I’ve never gone down on my road bikes though! except on grass, ice, and snow…which don’t really cut you up.

And like some of you won’t ever be caught in spandex, you’ll never catch me shaven.

I’ve gotta say I’m surprised there’s no love for Wilson Blvd off the W&OD. It’s wonderful to ride up one side, then back down just to go up the other! Kinda like a painful rollercoaster. And it’s certainly a bit more aggressive than Walter Reed from what I’ve experienced.

It was the best stunned look that I’ve seen since….. Wednesday when I rode 2 bikes home at the same time.

I love ghost riding bikes, it’s so nice when you have to stop for something, just balancing there without any effort..far more efficient than a trackstand. Kind of makes me want a sidecar!

So you did get out there? When?

I was out there from 6:30 to 8:30am.

    @Dirt

Ha! One of the guys in that group said with a confused tone, “that guy just took a picture of us…”, funny that it was you. I had literally just gotten everything over to that spot when you came by, hadn’t even put the banner up yet.

To those who did, thanks for stopping by!

I’ll be working on doing this again mid/late March with the snacks and drinks this time haha. I’ll be sure to post a another thread/or bump this one, when the date is finalized.

    Thanks again! Ride safe.

You know what, regardless of the legitimate pit-stop event thingy being postponed (and it will happen, I promise you that), I’ve decided I’ll still come out and hand out some coupons and bottles of water if anyone is interested in stopping for a brief moment :)

There was a third grader who did this back in 2010 and she didn’t seem to have any permitting problems. Her approach was to just do it and ask for forgiveness later. Story even got picked up by local press and she didn’t have any issues.

Haha that’s neat. Sadly though, I’d say the motivation to fine a third grade is a bit less versus an established company :).
