Hi all – Shane here. Pleased to meet you all and to be on the #4 train. First timer as well. I live in Bethesda, work in DC, and started riding a couple of years ago after a knee blow out situation. I started commuting at the suggestion of a friend in 2016 and ride to work and elsewhere as many days as possible now. Cheers!

Hi all. I clip in with regular road shoes. I have a pair of overshoes on order given the weather but in the meantime I have been using the aluminum foil around the front of the foot trick mentioned earlier. I first saw it on a GCN video. Family members that witnessed my reynolds wrap foot prep this morning basically pointed and laughed. Anyway, I only wear a regular thickness merino sock and it has worked pretty darn well the last couple of days (8-10 mile rides). I’ve found in other winter activities that layering socks, especially those of the thick variety, usually has the opposite of the intended effect.

I have an URban 350 and it has worked well for CCT commuting over the last year. Pretty reasonable price for a decent light. I also recently bought an Urban 650 to have a backup. Maybe the third or fourth time I used it, the plastic tab piece that slips into the mount snapped off when it shouldn’t have. L&M didn’t have the exact replacement but sent me a code worth more than the 650 to purchase a replacement no questions asked. Free shipping too. Ended up with an Urban 700 — can’t ask for more than that.

As noted somewhere above, my only complaint is that the cover for the USB charging connector pops out too easily.
