Pretty bridge – I’ll have to put that on my list to check out next time I’m in that area, but YIKES that’s a lot of switchbacks! [emoji15]

Learned that Alexandria VW has loaner bikes while swinging by for this picture. How cool is that??? (If I wasn’t coordinating the Infrastructure Pointless Prize, I would have snapped a pic & posted that too!)

Vesper Street Trail is relatively new. Its ribbon-cutting ceremony happened on April 16, 2019. This 0.4-mile trail connects pedestrians and cyclists from Vesper Street to Spring Hill Metro Station.

Central Park in NYC has a six mile loop that is closed to most motor vehicles. There are three lanes, foot traffic, human powered wheeled traffic (and ebikes), and pedicabs/Horse-drawn carriages/emergency & maintenance vehicles. The photo shows the narrowest section from the 6th Ave entrance to the 72nd St exit. This is looking north toward the carosel.

Ive ridden a bikeshare through there! It’s fantastic!

At the end of July, 2020, a small passover bridge suffered a big sink hole on Temple Hills Rd in Clinton, MD. The sink hole is about 3 blocks from my house on a major thoroughfare. The effective area of the road was immediately closed. By the end of Sept. I started inquiring about it, because very little has been done besides closing it, and our local bus service got cut off because of the closer. To my surprise, I found out that the repair will take at least a year, and that the effective area of the road, less than a mile, will be widen with a bike path and walkway. Great news!!! Not so great, the bike lane will only be in the repair area (less than a mile) not the whole 4 miles area of that portion of Temple Hills Road.
