ParticipantWaters End Brewery in Lake Ridge. Enjoyed a nice Stout after a impromptu 15 miler. Stout was excellent, rich, creamy and I think a hint of chocolate. Went down too smoothly.

Participantdoughneuring stop 2
35 miles and there was Krispy Kreme
Chose 2, original glazed and white icing with chocolate stripes.
Original glaze was familiar and was pleasant, the white iced was ok, I guess I’m partial to the original glazed.

ParticipantDoughneuring Challenge, first of two stops.
1) Dunkin Donuts-Bristow, 12 miles into ride, chose a French Crueller, nice and airy, but not much flavor.
Lots of witnesses

O, yet of little faith!
Those “chain” places open many opportunities for Doughneuring Points! Duck Doughnuts might net someone bonus points for the most creative or unusual toppings on a doughnut; Krispy Kreme might get some of you in the running for the Sorriest Doughnut prize…and 3 places in 1 day! That is at least 33 points in one fell Doughneuring swoop.
Why, oh why do I have to work that day??Happy Inaugural Doughneuring! e
I’m thinking we could start and finish at Krispy Kreme for additional points with different Donuts of course.

It is in South Arlinton, the mostly flip flop free half of the County (though Shirlington is probably the most flip flop friendly part of South Arlington? Except maybe Penrose?) The loop skirts flip flop central.
We should probably also plan a DC ride – I want to do the length of the newly extended ART.
I love riding the Antacostia River Trail (ART) to Lake Armenia. It’s a 35 mile ride from Haines Point https://www.strava.com/activities/792543489

Oh, also, I’m Erik. My girlfriend and I live in Anacostia near Fort Circle park. I commute 7.5 miles one way to Dupont Circle 5 days a week (unless there are plumbing emergencies). Because I’m competitive, I guess I’ll be riding on the weekends again. I’m just getting back into cycling after taking two years off, though, so I’m not very fast or in shape any more. Here’s hoping for some positive gains this year!
P.S. Where is M.P.? I’m not the most Arlington savvy. My head-map of Arlington just says,”Thar be dragons and brown flip flops.”

ParticipantIntroducing myself. My name is Steve and a second year BAFS rider from Lake Ridge (Prince William Co). I do not commute- I work in DC so all my miles are after work and on weekends. I often ride in DC or Arlington, but PW Co has some nice routes. I’m an old grey hair Clydesdale (220lbs +) only fast downhill, gravity challenged up hill.

Thanks for posting, the beginning of the WOD is in Shirlington, near Shirlington Rd and South 4 mile run. I usually park in the Harris Teeter parking garage in Shirlington Village.

Okay team captains/acting captains/people who took charge:
It has been 36 hours since Happy Hour. If there are people who should be on your team but have not joined your team’s Strava group, please let me know their forum name and I will get you contact info (“real” name, email, and strava ID number).
Happy teammate hunting!
I sent forum messages to my team members (#21) and have 6 signed up on Strava, 2 others acknowledged my message, however AlexBikeCommute informed me that she has a new job and wants to withdraw from BAFS this year. I have not heard from Williampp3, jdaniel226, jwiedcycle. Could you send me their emails please.

Hey guys, sorry I missed the happy hour. Plumbing emergency.
I’m down for a group ride, wherever works. My girlfriend is headed out of town for two weeks so I’ve got tons of time to ride. Wooo team 21!

We will set a ride for Monday, I need to push the start time to 10:30 though. I will post on Strava as well.

Just FYI from a PW rider, Depending on the route you design, there is another new brewery in Woodbridge/Lake Ridge area. Waters End Brewery off Old Bridge Rd, about 3 miles from Growling Bear with a bike path the majority of the way. Riding from Growling towards Ornery and across 95 to Brew Republic may be a challenging route with the traffic and no bike lanes/paths. Manassas has a few breweries that you could combine with Growling and Waters End. Bad Wolf and Heritage. Biking between Lake Ridge and Manassas is fine, wide shoulders and a path the entire way 20 ish miles. Just unsolicited input.

I would certainly join that.
There’s a new, superhero-themed brewery opening in Woodbridge tomorrow. Heroic Aleworks. A quick Google search suggests there are at least three other breweries in Woodbridge: Ornery, Growling Bear (that’s two separate breweries!!), and Brew Republic. I’ve never been down there. A group ride south might be in order, as well.
