Participantfor long distances nothing beats a good road bike. I use my road bike for my 20 mile one way commute to work, on a hybrid bike it would be way too slow i think. Road bikes are pretty robust, but get some larger tires and the thing will cope with anything.

Participanti do find that reporting to the police does nothing.
Last year i got in an actual fight with a taxi cab driver. The guy punched me in the face, and then i hit him. A boatload of tourists saw all of this and called the police. The cab driver sped off. And waited around.. When they came they did nothing even thou they had the license plate and cab number. They said since we started exchanging punches we would be both locked up.

ParticipantIn rockville pike id use the sidewalk carefully, hardly anyone walkin there anyway. But if its better on the street of course, suburban cycling is pretty tough and you have to be careful. I ride on the sidewalk quite a bit in suburbia. It usually has no pedistrians and the traffic on the road is high and there is no shoulder.

Participantdid 48 miles roundtrip today, and by the time i was nearing home i ran out of juicy climbing hills with no shade. Riding on the capital crscent trail was easy because its a few degrees cooler!
I find no matter how slow i ride, i still get all sweaty.
