No!!!! Judd, I think you should ride the Brompton. I promise I’ve barely broken in that plank they call a saddle
You up for it?

ParticipantIndian Head was a much easier ride last year because the dropped the monster hill in the last 3 miles. I think it was a mile at 8% grade. Let’s hope they put it back in this year!!!

“Power of 10 Challenge”
10 months, March – December
10 rides
100 km or 100 miles
20,000 feet or 10,000 meters of climbingGold = 10 centuries AND 10,000 meters climbing
Silver = 10 mix and match metrics & centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbing
Bronze = 10 metric centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbingNote that these are minimums – you may exceed if you are feeling especially beastly!
Stars in the colors above will be distributed after the ride if you accept the challenge to bedazzle your helmet (by Sarah Bee or other representative)
Special prize if someone does their 1st century ever; same prize for first metric century ever
Special prize for those who decide to improve and switch to centuries at some point during the season
Special prize if completing Kill Bill is one of your chosen centuries
End of season finale happy hour with one’s name emblazoned on the Great Wall of Glitter
**Prizes are TBD, but I am open to suggestions**Rides must be uploaded to Strava for validation (manual or non-manual).
Rides must be completed in one day without large gaps of time except for rest stops, etc.
Rides do not have to be official, supported rides, but riding in a group with friends is encouraged.
Group photo highly recommended, but optional. So, I realize this is pretty late for this season although I know some have taken on the challenge. When February rolls around, I’ll get a headcount for next “season” and set up a Strava group. Who’s in?
Warmly,
Sarah Bee
All,
Just a reminder that the Power of 10 Challenge 2016 is starting Spring Solstice (March 21) through Winter Solstice (December 21). I will be setting up the Strava page this week. If you’ve forgotten the rules, please see above. We had several gold finishers last year including consul rider and Rod, for whom this challenge isn’t really a challenge. Are you up for it?
Thanks,
Sarah Bee

Hey Sarah – I’m bringing a car with goodies in the trunk as well. Do they generally leave the HP gates open on the weekends, or did you have to put in a special request to make sure you could get it down near the point? I guess worst case I can set up near the tennis courts or something, but if you know of a way to ensure the gates stay open then I can try and help coordinate.
Billy
Hi,
Great. The gates were wide open last year. Hopefully will be so this year too.
Thanks,
Sarah Bee

I managed to stretch out my achilles tendon biking on the Blueridge parkway (sorry for dropping out, Team 2!), so I’m free to be at Hanes point from the afternoon into the evening. Boot and all. When should I get there? What can I bring? Who should I be looking out for? I’ll do whatever, just let me know!
Hey Cmcmackin87,
Sorry to hear about your Achilles. Did the same thing last year. I got there at the beginning of the ride, set up the snack station at the end of the point where I parked my car, staged all the food out of my trunk, and blasted the radio all night. I brought typical supported ride snack items, but cookies, brownies, Gatorade, fruit, crackers, chips, hummus, etc. were a big hit. No one drank any of the wine I brought and only one or two people cracked open a beer. I will be there with some snacks this year as well, although I will be towing them from the back of my bike. So, look for me on the bike pulling the trailer with Christmas lights. Thanks for volunteering & see you there!
Warmly,
Sarah Bee
