ParticipantTo be honest, you may be right, but just up the trail from this photo it’s not nearly as neatly pushed aside. Who knows

ParticipantI think it was a combo of melting and trail use but hey, could be wrong.

Oh, I thought it did happen? It definitely looked like a snowblower or something had been used between Gallows and Park St, though there were some ugly patches from Park to Maple, so maybe not there? (West of Vienna, less sure, but that part wasn’t that bad for riding so not sure if I would have really noticed.)

ParticipantTalked to NVRPA again. To sum up: they will never plow or treat but will do a snow blower only at 6″ of snow or above. However, I was promised they would snow blow into Vienna (this week at least) and it evidently never happened. It gets complicated when the local authorities take it upon themselves to rid the snow (FC and Arlington). Weird. Hopefully we’re done with this anyway..

ParticipantShawn, do you ride all the way into Vienna? Trying to figure out the trail condition from Shreve Rd into Vienna.

ParticipantI took American Cyclo’s route on the way home after finding out what others battled through Falls Church. I got off the trail at Shreve Rd and didn’t even attempt the WOD beyond that point. I’m pretty disappointed in tonight’s ride, I don’t know if they actually did a snow blower and melted snow came back on the trail or they didn’t even snow blow. Debating on riding tomorrow afternoon or not (only riding in the afternoon). I’m guessing the WOD might be all melted by then?

ParticipantIndeed! Well, funny you mentioned a baguette, I have a baguette bag for it…

Pictures of your bike make me long for spring and all-day-long bike rides under the sun. I’d fill that front bag as the french intended — with wine, cheese and a nice baguette. WSGFABR!

ParticipantSince were on the subject of racks and fenders…upgraded to Grand Bois tires/custom mudflap/cassette recently.

ParticipantI think what we’re all missing here is a live satellite feed that beams down to the trails around DC. I for one would enjoy a live shot of the trail from the comfort of my office desk or at home while sipping a night cap for the following ride’s conditions. Anyone from NASA or the NSA on the forum?

ParticipantLovely ride Thomistic, a Nitto rack up front would look lovely as well. See you on the trails

ParticipantYep, agreed. Kind of touch and go on Idylwood but overall not bad. Thanks Shawn.

Shawn’s road route into downtown from Falls Church is downright enjoyable at 7am. All clear expect for a few large snow piles in the bike lanes occasionally from where they cleared the roads. Fortunately drivers seem nicer and more willing to make some room for bikes at 7am than they do at 8am!
