As for the sheriff, those of us who live in Dunn Loring are under the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office — we have no police to call our own. If anything ever happens to you on the W&OD between Vienna and Falls Church, that is who will respond.
I would urge anyone who wishes to confirm this story to simply call the District Station in McLean (703-556-7750) and ask to speak to the Animal Control Officer who covers it. She was very nice and we had a long conversation in which I referenced this web forum as a place to obtain a picture of Dogsled Guy (I found the posts about him while waiting at the doctor’s office). As she was going to his house, she did not need it. You could also call Animal Control directly (703-691-2131).
Again, my sole intent was to increase awareness. I do not know this man at all, nor do I wish him any harm. I just don’t want anyone else bit.
