Randy, do I pass you almost daily on the Hunter Mill climb? 5:15 ish? (I’m heading EB usually on a blue C’dale or black LeMond CX with fenders and when cold I wear a red jacket, gray helmet, clear lens shades and black PI cap).
Name is Kevin (Guy is my middle name) BTW
Hi Kevin, no that’s not me, I have a ridiculously short commute (from crystal city to foggy bottom). I’d more likely be be spotted on the MVT or going around hains point.

ParticipantI’m Randy. Most weekdays I’ll be on a blue Fuji road bike with fenders, and a black and red timbuk2 rucksack. On weekends and sometimes weekday evenings, I’ll be on a blue and white trek and probably in an NCVC kit.

Ok – then I misinterpreted this post.
If we exclude certain types of Strava activities, we need some way to implement the rule. Pretty much the only way to do this is to put something in the activity name. So here’s a proposal to (a) except, (b) reject, or (c) amend:Excluded activities: If you post an activity to Strava during the competition period which is not an outdoor bike ride, then it should have the string “#NoBAFS” in the activity name.
doh…so i got a trainer for christmas, and haven’t been out riding much…
I saw that my trainer ride yesterday put me up on the leaderboard with 20 points. (10 for mileage+10 bonus).
I’ll start throwing in “#NoBAFS” to my trainer runs…
I start a new job on monday which is closer to home, so I expect that once I get settled in, I’ll start bike commuting.December 4, 2012 at 11:44 pm in reply to: Freezing Saddles: Winter Bike Challenge (sign up open) #956811rnapiza
ParticipantI’m not a commuter…..yet, so my mileage will vary.
Should be funrnapiza
ParticipantI’d join the challenge. I don’t really post much at all here. But I did put in some miles for BikeArlington C Team over this past summer..where do I sign up?

Being the wrong gender and height I don’t have anything but wasnted to let you know that City Hub in Crystal City rents Madones, I believe long-term. They also rent Elliptigos if you want to go a little crazy for a week.
City Hub is awesome! They took care of me by hooking me up with one of their Madone 5.2 rentals while they held mine (3.1) for repairs. Great shop. Recommended.

ParticipantThis definitely could have had some more marshals, along with some more signage.
I was trailing behind some of the lead group that ended up taking a wrong turn at the end of the Rock Creek Parkway segment. We all ended up on the Whitehurst Freeway then crossing over the Key Bridge and getting back on the GWB. Luckily it was still fairly early in the morning, so car traffic was light.Other than that, I was able to ride the entire route w/ no issue.

I just put up a 65 mile RT to B’more for the C team. What a great ride! Learned an excellent route (hint TJROW…)
However, I know that one of my colleagues from work is in vacation and hasn’t posted her rides for the B team, so I expect that will boost the B’s totals a lot when she gets back.
PS Dana (dbb) sighting at the Kinetic Sculpture race (but I don’t have photographic evidence). The 1% floated (lots of pictures coming I’m sure)!
I was planning on riding up to baltimore tomorrow. What route did you take?

Participantjust signed up for the C-team 😮
Looks like all my previous rides that I uploaded from my garmin were automatically added towards the challenge 😎
I put up 1612 points!rnapiza
ParticipantHi – first post here
I’m riding in the 5 boro bike tour also. It’ll be somewhat of a training run for my first century next month at the Reston Tour de Cure. Anyway, hopefully the weather’s nice that weekend. -
