I don’t understand why the property manangers don’t let bike in the building. Is it a liability issue?

I’m consider myself very lucky that my office has lockers, showers, and indoor bike storage. It’s a reason that I don’t find another job. :) If you look for another job, the indoor bike storage is one of the requirements.

That’s why I always glance behind me when I swerve or turn, specially in the bike lane.

I don’t worry too much the bikes. I want to make sure that the Big Box doesn’t hit me.

I did a 16.5 mile ride last Saturday when it was windy with a group. I didn’t die, but I think I might have to take the bike on metro and ride it back till I can get myself in better shape. I have a lot of respect for you bike commuters. :)

I recommend that you should start your commute slowly by drive or Metro half way and bike half way, keeps it under 10 miles each way and built it up to 16.5 miles. There are a lot of free parking along the trails. Stay on the trail much as you can until you get comfortable with the crazy DC traffic. Try your best on the Curtis hills. If it’s too much, get off the bike and walk up. I walked my bike up the Curtis hill on the my first commute and a pretty jogging girl passed me with a smile. I should have talked to her. :)

Ride on a regular shoe or MTB shoes so you can walk easily.

I commute from Chinatown to Reston very late shift. I took the M Street, Georgetown, and key bridge a few times at night but I hate it. It’s too congested, dangers, and too many bars along the route (more drunk drivers). I refer the long safe route, 14th bridge and Mt Vernon Trail.

I will try Liz’s suggested route “From westbound M Street, I turn right on 28th Street, left on N Street and another left on 34th Street”

    Liz,

Thank you for posting the detail report. I normally ride later 8:30 with same route WOD, Curtis, and Key Bridge but I chicken out this morning. Hopefully, it would dry up by Wednesday.
