    Hi TDB,

There are a lot of posting on this forum about bike recommendation but I wouldn’t recommend you buy a bike from car company name.

    Good Luck,
    Rick

I see a lot of tourists using the Capital Bikeshare. You don’t have to worry about secure the bike, just check in and check out. You need to bring you helmets. If you’re planing to ride at night, bring some bike lights.

Here is the link to DC bike map.

That’s why they called “Defensive riding”

    Wanglung,

I think you made a good decision. Hopefully, you didn’t hurt badly. May be just scratches.

In my case, my medical bills were more than 30K and my head was hurt for weeks. My doctor send me ER when I learned the CAT SCAN and MRI cost a fortune.

    Ride soon.

And yes, please buy local from decent shops. (And note the *decent* part of that. No need to support bad businesses.)

I agree that we need to support the local shops but it’s hard sometimes. To support it, my recent bike costs me about $400 more but I also get free fitting and 1 year adjustment.

I also able to get the Performance bike to do some price matching.

I was following StopmeansStop’s advice to contact the driver and asking for fixing up my bike, he said that the police told him that he is not liable for the accident so he is not going to do anything, I thanked him and hang up the phone politely.

Wanglung, I’m sorry this happens to you. I don’t much about the law but can the police decide the who is liable for it? If you got hut, you might need an attorney for it.

I got in the car accident about 6 years ago in DC. The other driver was clearly at fault. I called the police but they didn’t do anything other asked us to exchange information.

After it, the other driver and his insurance didn’t admit the fault or they didn’t want pay for it and I was hurt. So I got an attorney for it, it looks more than 2 years but the mediator decided other driver was at fault. They have to pay all the medical costs, car damage, and attorney fees.

The best part was I don’t deal with them. The attorney did all the work.

Who: Clovis at Conte’s is absolutely amazing.

Yes, Clovis fitted me too when I bought my R3 Cervelo. He is a great guy. If it doesn’t work after the first time, you can come back and Clovis will make it right for you.

Since I haven’t got fitted anywhere else, so I can’t really make a comparison.

You can buy mostmstuff on amazon and get the best prices. And yes, the more expensive stuff is worth it. Your privates will thank you for it.

When you figured out your size, buy them online. 90% of my shopping is online.

When I’m not really sure about a Gore or Pearl Izumi item, I would buy it from performancebike website and ship free to the local store. If I don’t like it, I can return to Performance store without the return shipping cost.

Yes, it’s acceptable but it might be too hot during summer. You also can try the MTB shorts if you’re not comfortable in spandex.

When I started cycling, I bought the cheap Performance Bike cycling clothes. But when I tried on the Gore or Pearl Izumi clothes, I would never go back to wear the Performance stuff. The Performance chamois and fabric was too thin. It doesn’t keep thing tightly in place. Finally, I have to throw them out. There are other good cycling cloth companies out there but Gore and Pearl Izumi have the reasonable price.

I would research and invest on the good cycling clothes. It would performance better and last for years.

Like CCrew said “NOT Cheap”. Since I bought the bike from Conte’s, they gave a free fitting, not laser 3D stuff but it’s was still good.

My recommendation is going there on week days so they can spend more time on your wife. You also need to call a head to book with the fitter.

Since most places have only one station setup and everyone wants to get fit on the weekend, they might not spend enough time with your wife.

    Good luck

I rode on it this afternoon. It’s a not completed job yet.

It looks like they gave this job to the lowest bidder. It doesn’t look safe at all.

    Liz,

I hope you feel better soon so you can ride.

We’re still using the old bridge this morning. There were a lot activities. They put up the metal wire fence, similar to the old one.

Hopefully, I will be on the new one going home. I hate the bump as you get on the old bridge.

    Hello arltodcdaily,

    Welcome.

There are a lot of out of town tour buses that don’t watch for cyclists when they make a turn.

According the WUSA9, she was serious injured but not life-threatening.

Here is the link. It’s definitely not her picture.
