Yes the guy in gray is totally unaware. Or is that grey?

ParticipantThat rider is as dumb as a bag of hair and simply without a conscious.
I do miss going on the Bike Rack rides.

Just checked, no one from this forum showed up as an intersection flyby as best I can tell
Interestingly, one flyby named his ride “Mistake in the Peloton”.
P.S. I was only checking to see if I could figure out if it was an organized ride or not.
Nice to see flyby being used for something other than stalking cute riders or runners.

Well, most sports are played in the appropriate venue. A public road simply isn’t a place to be riding as though one is on a closed course. Maybe there should be a venue,
There should be such a venue in DC. I know it is a dream, but maybe it is possible to get a park with a road just for cyclists. Something like the Bud Harris Park in Pittsburgh. Ridden there and it is a blast. Sometimes it can get crazy competitive, seen lots of hands thrown, especially in the women’s crits.

Or just do Kill Bill 2.2 times.
Anyone have a link to the discussed Kill Bill segment? There are many segments called that on Strava distributed globally.
Raymo853
ParticipantFor those willing to travel and into gravel, you could do this segment. gains 1,131 feet in just 2.2 miles, average grade 9.8%. Riding it 26 times would give you 29,406 feet of climbing in 57 miles of climbing and 57 miles of descending. Sounds like great SM100 training.
http://www.strava.com/segments/1385138?filter=overallI’ve climbed that segment in 25 mins and descended it (another segment http://www.strava.com/segments/5740499) in 8 mins. So if I could keep up a climbing time of 30 mins (not likely) and descending of 10 min, it would take me (26*30 + 26 *10) or 17 hours and 45 mins.

Oh, how far that frame has fallen. At least the owner kept the old clamp-on housing stops when rigging that crazy ugly full-housing gear cable setup.
He is crazy on the price. Maybe if it was built with proper vintage parts but no way is that worth $600 for basicaly a frame with throw away parts on it.

This is one issue where cyclists really can come across as myopic and self-centered.
And before anyone says anything about strollers, please be aware that nothing will make you seem more looney and less likely to win a debate in the public eye than appearing to argue that your bike is as important as a small human. I have also seen cycling advocates claim if wheelchairs are allowed then bikes should be at a WMATA meeting. I’ve also seen that phrase on these boards, in reference to an apartment building banning bikes from the lobby entrance.

ParticipantIf there was a petition for keeping the rush hour ban, I would sign that. Sorry bikes have no place on crowded metros. Comparing them to baby strollers is simply wrong. And expecting the metro folks to monitor who is trying on an opposite to rush train in stations with combined entrances (all) and combined platforms (most) is not practicable. Also, most metros inside dc are stuffed both directions.
And pointing out the stories about empty cars when so many people have experience being stuffed into cars or having to wait for the next train is wrong.
Yes I wish metro was efficient enough to allow a bike, baby buggy, large object car on every train at all times, but it isn’t and never will be.

ParticipantI too am a dedicated a bell ringer. I make sure to get dual tone bells. As someone suffering from a bit of hearing lost in one ear, I can never tell where single tones bells are coming from.

ParticipantI got an old steel frame powder coated back in 1999. This frame has been used as a commuter, cross bike, left outside, crashed, locked to poorly designed bike racks, stolen and returned, smashed into a Rolls Royce in front of the Indian Embassy, …. and it has one nick in the paint from when broke a front derailleur off in a crash. (Drunk Dec 31 ride in the snow around 2003.)
I highly recommend getting it powder coated. They will blast it before the process. Then get decals mounted and then clearcoated. Not really want I suspect you are looking to do, but for those looking to armor a bike, it is the way to go.
