I think that’s because “poorly thought out boondoggle” was already taken.

I have noticed one can no longer join the offer.

It would be oh so easy to scam this. I have gathered credits for rides I used my old fashioned GPS to record and only uploaded to Strava the next day. It is very easy to modify the ride data for such files, they are plain text. I checked with one of my other Strava accounts, and Strava falls for that. Of course I assume doing that to a linked account with the purpose of gathering credits would be fraud.

I did not find it necessary to ride a gravel specific rig, but let’s be honest, each person and manufacture has a different definition of what is a gravel bike. The bike I used last year, an Indy Fab Club Racer with 28 hard case tires, was totally fine. There is not that many miles of gravel. And none of the gravel sections were very deep nor using large stones.

I rode the 52 last year and am riding the 90 this year. Will be running Bonti AW3 Hard Case 28c tires, just like last year. Those tires were more than fine, but, if I had larger tires, I would run them.

I would be into carpooling, however, am planning to go down Saturday morning and get a medium length MTB ride in and then camp at Todd Lake.

That was a lot of fun tonight.
What a great way to end the competition.
    Y’all are great!

The Hanes Point ride was col enough to make up for all the cold and dark rides earlier in BAFS

Keep in mind that if you want to share in the “Martinelli’s” beverage toast, you’ll have to be there post 11PM. So those of you doing a single lap at 6PM or something, too bad.
Also, unless you are there after, say, 9PM, you won’t even be part of the official FSLNHP Party, you’ll just be some cyclist riding around Hains Point for no particular reason.

It does seem we will have a respectable turnout. I’m hoping I have enough “Martinelli’s sparkling beverage,” but feel free to bring a supplement.

Ride on! And goodbye winter 2015: we loved ya; we hated ya; you threw your toughest at us, but you couldn’t break us. Hah!

Ha, then I am not planning to be part of the party. Hope to get home around 9.

I think I’ll do the five segment then of course a backwards one.

Does anyone have goals for tonight at Hanes Point? Mine is to do two of the five laps at most. Writing that sounds very painful, maybe I’ll just do one five.

I got ripped off. Now I see why people pay big bucks for Garmins. My phone couldn’t tell whether I was in the street or on folk’s lawns. This ride should have killed yours since it was a 9.4% grade, while your segment says 6.4%. Oh well, here it is: http://www.strava.com/activities/268295769

Smart phones are not GPS units. Smart phones are not GPS units. Well designed smart phones will have GPS receivers, but only use them as a last resort. It is much quicker, less processor intensive (aka less battery drain) and more beneficial to their data collection to locate you using by using the towers, wifi fields, heatmaps of past users and already mapped data.

I was down there for a lap on Sunday and saw at least 5 people going the wrong way. I don’t get it. The wind sucked going NW no matter which way you were going around the loop, so why would you go backwards??

I’m hoping to make it down there Friday evening but no guarantees. I have to work Saturday, so have to get up early.

It is a great way to see what cute people are riding laps so you can turn around and chat them up. I assume those five people just did not find you attractive.

To be serious, it is totally not fair to the Not Named. If someone can figure out who dropped and how many points they had, I would consider it fine to spot them that many points.

That place smells wonderful. Great place to visit in combo with Old Rag hikes.

Look out for their mean house cat, he does not like anyone.

Maybe this is the time for bribes to come out. (and my spell check for members) I’ll offer a slightly less than full bottle of Copper Fox Rye Whisky to any player with more than 1,000 points that joins Dozers. For anyone from a team ahead of us (Octs, Bears or Rule 9) the offer it a completely full and never opened bottle.
