If the rules say it’s cheating isn’t cheating. If not, it’s not.

Well using either in a licensed race would be a violation if you did not apply for and get granted an exception. Even with a legal prescription. Getting these exceptions is nearly impossible, according to what I have read, unless you have the resources to hire lawyers and such to petition on your behalf.

Such an adherence to if it is not prohibited in the rule book it is ok just saddens me. That shows just no sportsman ship at all.

Got an idea I thought about while in the race being followed by some guy’s drone camera. Currently the rules do not ban drones on course. Would it be cheating if I had a drone follow me with a big shade to keep the sun off of me? It could carry water and food and pass it to me instead of me having to carry it. I know currently the battery and autonomous controls do not exists for such a thing, but it is probably only years away.

Yeah, I go to MLK over 11th and then down towards St E’s.

11th does get you over the highway, however, that Good Hope/MLK intersection is a bit annoying plus after getting threaten with a gun on Good Hope, I have a tendency to not like going that way. It also still requires you to cross over Penn if you are looking to head towards Greenway, Fort DuPont, etc.

Really the best way is the tunnel to the south of Penn Ave, Nicholson Street NE. Still puts me on the wrong side of Penn, but is the best choice out of the bunch.

I went across at D and 32nd St SE last night. It was not too grand. One of the two old side lines is active, plus the rail yard is in heavy use. I do not like riding through such equipment areas, the folks driving large vehicle are not expecting bikes there.

When I ride over that way I prefer the Frederick Douglass or 11th St. bridge, but I have also used the East Capitol/Whitney Young bridge with some success.

Both of those ways only get you to the trail, not over the highway and into the neighborhoods.

I would be. That website is blocked for me at work. Can you give us a little detail on where the potential places are? I do not think I would do the full thing, but would be happy to join you for a few hours.

I was sad to see Contador loos so much time due to his crash.

Did anyone notice the near fall Froome had on the final descent? It was after Contador had fallen, Nibali was leading and Froome just recovered by a hair. Quantana was right behind him and noticed. Soon after Valverde jumped ahead of Nibali (something I thought was not too possible) and Froome was chasing. Assuming Moviestar was trying to catch Froome after a near fall. Makes me wonder what the response would have been if he had fallen.

As someone who drives, rides, and runs through that intersection all the time, it is so much better for all three modes. It is still not 100% done.

That is the first lesson in most good mixed martial arts classes.

I don’t have any specific items in mind, but if you choose to carry something, be sure you have some training in how to use the item in an intense situation. Otherwise, that item could be more likely to be used against you.

Are there alternate routes? In some locations, a parallel street might have more foot traffic, although some particular neighborhoods might not be safe.

Mixed martial arts classes will make you safer than any tool or object you are not skilled in using.

Yorkshire experienced a significant increase in tourist spending after hosting two stages of last year’s Tour.

Maybe, but their experiences do not reflect every place. And even in their case, there is a chance the extra tourist spending did not offset the rest of the cost of hosting an event such as that.

I am not saying towns should not host stages, World cup matches, bid on the Olympics, ……. just do not think it is a total windfall when you are awarded things.

Sad Ben King is not on the start list.

One other thing to point out about having the women’s race on nearly the same stages and nearly the same time. That would greatly increase the amount of time the road would need to be closed and/or controlled. That would really change the nature of the event for the on the ground spectators. No longer could you jump on your bike or motorcycle, into your car, camper car, etc… to make it to the next good viewing spot or a good spot on the next stage. Or in towns it would keep the city center closed down for multiple more hours, something that would kill the good will of the local businesses. Espically since people are learning the idea that hosting sporting events is such a financial benefit to locals is kind of a lie.

There will be a brief (approx 1 hour, approx 1 mile) trail closure on the morning of July 5 in Reston because of the World Police Games half marathon, allegedly starting 8 a.m. No detour!

The event is scheduled from 0700 until 1100. I wish it had more specifics on location and time.

I also see there is a road bike race hill climb on Friday in Loudon county. I place I plan to be riding on Friday as well. Hmmm.

Update, found a little more info. It appears to start out past Purcellville at Harry Byrd Hwy & State Rte 601 Bluemont, VA 20135

Just got the email, the event is on. Few trees down but they will be cleared before 5.
