Why not? It seems like law enforcement could do a lot more with evidence.
Basically if the folks are out there actively and falsely claiming it is private, I plan to just stay away. The last thing I would want to do is film them possibly ramping up the situation further if they notice. I also have an overall aversion to GoPros and the like, while understanding how video evidence can be very helpful post confrontation. Unless of course you are dead and buried somewhere in the woods.

Good point; co2 is cheap.
Do note co2 is not friendly with most sealants.

ParticipantI have on bigger mtb tubless tires like 2.3s and 2.5s on Stan’s and Bonti rims. Especially with Bonti tires, they tend to have looser beads.

That’s why you really need to contact the Forest Service. Part of their mission is law enforcement within National Forests.
I am going to this upcoming week. Have also reached out to the H Burgh community to gather their stories as well. MORE and MTBR have not had much of a response yet.

One more, Hazard Mill Rd looks like the only way to get in/out of the Hazard Mill Recreation Area which makes it very doubtful that it’s a private road.
I know these folks are wrong, but that is no defense vs firearms.

Plus there are a lot of VRBO type cabins back there, a lot of trail running events, and a good number paddlers.

ParticipantI have one. Got it as a Christmas present. It seats big tires easily. It is a little annoying to use as a pump normally, as it has to charge the chamber to the tire’s pressure first.
It feels well made. Yes a little compressor would be nice, but not when you are out in the woods without power. Yes you could get a travel tank, but those do not last for ever not are as easy to pack.

ParticipantWoaa Rockford10. You have 5.50 points with the first two posts. (4.0 gave away a whole bike, 1.5 sold frame) Giving away another three frames then gets you ((1.5*2)*3) for 9 more points to 14.5.
If you sell anything more before midnight Sat, you’ll get even more points.

The Loose Rules on my challanges:
#1 Most states:
In a single day of continuous riding, ride in the most states possible. Must include either VA, MD or DC. (DC does count as a state) No shuttling or multimodal allowed. (so no riding through DC, VA, MD and then taking the train to PA)Bonus Points for tie breaking: starting and ending in the same state, shortest distance, 2x for including another country (embassy grounds do not count)
Prize: Some found/made prize and bottle of rye whiskey. Alternative to the rye is a $50 donation in your name to what ever bike charity you want
#2 Most Bike shops:
I may want to change this to something else, the most Food for All Dc Deliveries. But I need to check on something before doing that.

I did mutate the bike shop or charity work chal;lange into the give bike stuff away n-1 challenge:

I think it is a Steve thing, I have the same States as well.
The most state prize is one I am managing. I plan to post something on it later today. One thing, it is not the most states ridden during the contest, but in a single ride. Pretty sure you did not make it to CA and CO on a single ride. I am pretty sure no one is beating Eric’s 5 with DC, MD, VA, WV and PA ride on Jan 1.

ParticipantQUOTE=Subby;136702]Late to the discussion but I just assumed that a skinnier tire was faster because less material was touching the road so less friction. As usual, I know F— All about bikes.
That is only part of the equation. And that variable is only true when the road is perfectly flat and the tire is perfectly round. Both physical impossibilities.
The primary thing that causes slightly wider tires to be faster is there is less deflection upwards and sideways of the bike and you when you hit objects. And by deflection I mean vibrations you can feel and by objects I mean 0.25 cm irregularities in the road surface. Of course you must balance out the mass of the tire, the frontal area for air resistance, and the overall surface rolling friction. So an huge tire will end up being slower.
And there are more variables of course, beyond frontal area, the tire shape and tire & rim shape are more important to air resistance. Then there are the the hard to measure variables, such as your fatigue caused by a too small tire increasing vibration. Michelin, Continental, Trek and Specialized have all researched this a lot the last few years, and it is why so many race teams switched to 25s and 28s.

Also, I’m not in the running to win – just playing for fun. (We could also do a ride swap day and add +1 to our scores as well.) And who knows, I may give out prizes for 2nd, 3rd, etc…
By the way, I see it as just fun too. My lamenting Cyndy is unmatchable was more about the looming end of the BAFS fun.
