If you consistently ride every day, you don’t get a big bump from the scoring system. To get a really big bump, you have to have a disproportionately high percentage of your miles come on days when a much lower than average number of people go ride.

Well that seems like bump % alone is not really a good indicator then. Someone* who rides a ton on days when no one else does would be penalized for also riding on days when other people do.

edit: My complaint about meaningless internet points is completely self-serving. *me

Sort it by bump % – then the riders at the top are the ones who got the biggest bump from Steve O’s system, meaning they rode more on days when everyone else rode less.

Ahh. I was looking at the adjusted score list. Weird, I fall from 4th to somewhere in the middle based on bump %, yet I ride a pretty good amount pretty much every day.

As of right now, the top 10 riders who have been putting in miles on days when no one else has are:

    Dylan S
    Dane
    Karen W
    Jan
    Louis K
    Tom N
(Will L – slacker who should not be on a list like this)
    Dave K
    Dana W
    Jonathan

Bolded names are all on the Merry Band of Idiots, apparently the Badassiest team at this point.

I’m confused, when I look at it the top 10 are pretty much a mixture of the top 10-12 riders from regular scoring. Not really surprising since almost all of the highest scoring riders do not miss ride days.

My 2010 Blue Competition Cycles RC8. Probably the bike I ride second most for BAFS. Built up the frame last year with Rival 22, Easton EA90 Wheelset, 3T Stem, and Syntace Bars. Custom 40oz Crusher feed bag and Rimshot saddle bag in USMC Desert Digi courtesy of https://www.thespindleatl.com/.

I love this bike, it is fairly light (17.3 lbs as built w/o bags/bottles), very stiff, and has nimble handling without being twitchy. It makes my commutes go by a lot quicker, although commuting on a bike built for crits can be a punishing ride on crappy pavement.

I do find it funny that a Red/White/Carbon colored bike says BLUE on it like 8 times….

I find it super annoying as well. It makes the graph a lot harder to read with that outlying, incorrect data point. Seriously would take all of 15 seconds for him to fix it too…

Today, as I was riding to work, I got caught behind a garbage truck for a couple of blocks. And you know what my first thought was…

Even being stuck behind a smelly garbage truck on a bike is better than driving to work.

    That great draft though!

To add to our Team 10 Badassery…

We have two members doing very well in the Beerneuring competition (this is really the only competition that matters, right?).

    And for a personal note:
I CRUSHED my previous highest monthly mileage by over 120 miles (WOW). Thanks for the encouragement, Team 10!

I really need to post in the beerneuring contest. It just seems like so much work when I just want to drink beer.

Kick ass month Casey, looking forward to more!

Team 10… now with additional bad assness. I just barely eeked out the Strava climbing badge this month. Keep climbing y’all!

All those HP laps must have given you 1, maybe even 200 ft of elevation!

After the first month of BAFS, we’re killing it. We’re consistently about 100 points behind Team 15.

    Team Accomplishments:
    Team points – 2nd
    Miles – 1st
    HP Laps – 1st
    Sleaze Rides – 1st
    Elevation – 2nd
    Saddle Time – 1st
    Ride Days – 3rd
    Average Speed – 6th

    Individual Accomplishments:
We have four riders in the Top 20 Overall.
We have 6 riders who have ridden every single day.
    Michigander Pointless Prize – Matt
Komorebi looks to be doing really well in the Social Butterfly Pointless Prize.

This looks to be our year. Keep getting on the bike every day and doing your best everyone.

We are actually in 1st for elevation. Staying Frosty has Erik B on their team, his Garmin gives him crazy elevation (60,000 ft of climbing on a 5 mile ride across flat DC), and he is pretty slow to correct it.

Erik B is winning, since apparently he commutes via Atlas V rocket!

Argh! Totally forgot to go looking for this years Hopslam! I’ll swing by some places after work today, hopefully someone has it still. Not a fan of how expensive it is getting. Saw someone post about getting a sixxer in DC for $25.99!!

I’m hoping for no snow days now, put in work yesterday. My roommate is from Michigan, when I told him about this pointless prize he laughed and said I better win it!

Good tip on the Vernor’s Emm. I picked up a 6 pack yesterday and drank one to celebrate Michigan’s bday, gifted my roomie the rest.

I’ll be there later probably like 6:45-7:00 or so.
