I won’t be there, obviously, but will indulge in the alcohols regardless.

A ‘Cannon will keep firing’ thread?

And I want to carp about how the PNW may not get below freezing, but it does come with a kind of cold that crawls into your soul and dies there. Plus this rain. It’s a drizzle, but it’s relentless in its drizzliness.

You have to move back to Virginia to play!!! Are you moving back to Virginia? We’d like that.

It says Washington area, and I am in one of them. We may even go below freezing this year maybe!

Of course this happens a month after I move to a snowless region.

    Pff.

    Seattle! I’m here already!

The stuff is still for sale at Bikenetic – proceeds go to Bikes for the World, so pay generously!

I don’t see the rockhopper in the pics. Does that mean it’s sold? If not, what size of a person might it fit?

Yep, we sold it. It’s the new owner’s first bike, too – which is a good thing to be responsible for.

Do you still have the quill-to-threadless stem adapter?

Sorry – totally missed this. Yes. Yes I do.

Boomer – I decided to keep the rain splats, given that I’m moving to rain country.

Everyone: this is a moving sale now – this stuff must go by Saturday! AAAAAA!

Does anyone have words of wisdom re shipping 5 bikes across the country? I’m looking at Amtrak, maybe, but I can’t see any indication about whether it includes insurance. (we’re shipping everything else using door to door pods, but the bike boxes will take up all the space.

I spent the summer in Seattle. The hills are crazy. But the entire summer it’s 75, sunny, and low humidity. There’s a really strong family biking community on Facebook, and they have some really nice bike infrastructure.

However, they’re big on beg buttons, short walk times, and mandatory helmets.

The mandatory helmets I did find annoying, yes (less so than my wife, who takes a more Dutch-fast-pedestrian-no-helmet cycling approach). And yes, a world where 80+ counts as ‘heatwave’ is a world I need to partake in. I didn’t leave my tropical homeland to deal with more tropical summers, yo.

I had considered that, but it seems inflexible for, say, multiple grocery bags, because of the vertical loading.

I ended up getting this: http://quik-pak.com/

It’s wonderful – the hitch is a ball hitch thing, which is super convenient. And it was totally grand for schlepping 60 lbs of goods from Costco.

The pedals have been promised, but I’ll bring the splats for Monday pancakes. They should totally fit size 12.

Kickstand’s been spoken for, but the saddle’s yours. I commute between Falls Church and Tysons, and am open to longer rides into Arlington – PM me to set up time/place please?
