Not really a missed connection, more of an annoyance…

You: Guy drafting off of me Saturday morning for a good 4 miles on the W&OD. I would have appreciated just a hello to know you were there initially, instead of you spooking me. Also taking the lead when given the chance would have been nice.

I will usually start whistling, riding without hands, and letting loose with the tailwind of vengeance when this occurs, which is rarely, because weekends are my days off the bike and the number of these dudes on the W&OD is epic.

Yeah, can’t telework, but apparently 99.9999% of my office can. Cavernous ghost town today. Got chased by a motorcycle cop riding in this morning, he wasn’t coming after me for any reason, just some casual drag racing to prove manliness or something. Not looking forward to dip, ducking, dodging, and diving on the way home.

Radtastic shoaling going on at Lynn St/I66 this morning. I always stop short of the pedestrian ramps just to make sure that I’m not impeding anyone, so this leaves me open to massive shoaling. To the guy on the vintage Trek 800 with the 100+ lbs panniers, put it into a lower gear BEFORE you stop at the light. This will prevent or reduce the chance of sitting on your own balls when the chain slips as you attempt to gain momentum from a complete stop.

Yesterday and it was on the Custis now that I think about it. Can’t remember what said perpetrator was wearing, vaguely remember jeans though.

I leave my suits n’ stuff at the office and bring in shirts and Underoos everyday. I probably don’t get my suits pressed as much as I should, but it isn’t like I’m sweating 24/7 working at my computer. Also, big plug for Charles Tyrwhitt no-iron dress shirts. Jos A. Banks’ shirts are a boondoggle of fals advertising.

Me: Zippy guy on W&OD being all zippy.

You: Guy with electric motor attached to your bike being inconsistently zippy.

Lesson: Please don’t pass using your motor then slow down to like 5mph becuase your “bike” weighs over 80lbs and you have run out of “pedal helper.”

Suggestion: Buy a bike and abide by the “no motorized vehicles” sign on the W&OD. Alternately, buy a bigger battery and just ride the thing like a moped. – SNAKES ALOT!

I particularly like the people who wear exercise clothing while riding on these things. WHEW! Just broke a sweat…um…leaning.

A little late to this one, but the Independence sidewalk is really just a minor improvement – still full of Admiral-level Crazy Ivans and random kids squirting out from behind trees, shrubs, and larger children.

While I completely feel your pain, I have also altered my route home to avoid the paths near the Lincoln. It is tourist hell, with tourons engaging in random crazy ivans just to ensure that there no american subs on their heals. It is a known dangerous gauntlet.

Consider crossing on the 14th Street bridge or consider going down the sidewalk on Independence rather than on the paths going to the memorial.

As much as I dont want to be near cars…. I also dont want to be near tourons.

More of a pogo to half wheelie, but it still looked rad.

You: Sweaty jogger dude on Memorial bridge rounding the corner on the DC side.
Me: Sweaty biker dude on Memorial bridge assuming, stupidly, that you wouldn’t be doing calisthenics on the sidewalk right behind neo-Roman horse statue, the perfect hiding place.

I’m glad to see you doing what appeared to be rigorous calisthenics before our proud city became the barren, Mad-Max-esque moonscape, that it is at this late hour. Further, I was happy to see that you were rocking no fewer than 6 of those mini-hydration bottles on your utility belt. That is just pragmatic.

In fact, everything you were doing this morning was exceedingly smart, except for doing calisthenics with your Bass-tastic headphones on behind a massive concrete pillar on the wrong side of the sidewalk.

I sincerely apologize for nearly killing you while you were in plank position. But I don’t understand why you were doing planks on the concrete rather than on that green soft stuff immediately adjacent to the concrete. You are mysterious sweaty calisthenics dude.

While I’m not a fan of scofflaws, I hope that ACPD’s enforcement doesn’t reach the moronically anal levels of the Falls Church Police Department, who while often pull people over for 27 in a 25.

Late chiming in, but yeah Custis v. MVT is not even a contest. With the exception of cars randomly pulling out on Rosslyn Hill, that can get a little sketchy.

Really shouldn’t have taken this long/this much advocacy to get this pushed through. Just today a nice woman on her blackberry almost murdered me on 14th street.
