MFC, for what this posting is worth, I’m assuming the cable head is broken off in the shifter rachet mechanism, if there’s enough cable to grab with a pair of needle nose pliers, pull the cable leftward while shifting to the lowest gear. If the cable head gets stuck, don’t force it. Hopefully that works for you.
