Congrats also on the new steed. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

DCPD does have video evidence of the individuals that stole the bikes. I’m sure they will nab these guys pretty soon. As for the bikes, not so sure if they can recover all that was stolen. Hopefully they get it back. I sure wouldn’t want to be the guy calling and informing these people that their bikes were stolen.

Well, sorry to sound like a cynic, but given that one of the bikes stolen belonged to the former mayor who was largely responsible for the meteoric rise of the current Chief of Police, I suspect there will be some high level interest in the investigation.

I agree that it is very strange a door would be routinely left unlocked at a place known to house nice stuff.

Sorry for everyone who lost a bike.

There was a back door that wasn’t locked and that’s how they got in. Video surveillance shows 2 persons unhooking the bikes then rolling them out. I was told that the back door was never locked even before the heist. It was very disturbing to see a Cervelo TT bike with Zipp 808’s being abducted by these individuals. That rig was easily around $6-8K. bucks.

Correction: I meant Adrian Fenty’s bike was stolen. Fenty Senior and Shawn Fenty are regulars at the Pro Shop in Gtown.

I also use Armadillo’s on my beater. I’ve been using them for about 2 years now and no problems whatsoever. I have another set on my TCR for open road rides to Potomac via Mc Arthur and same thing. No problems. I did notice a cut on the sidewall on my rear tire when the ride was done but I still made it back to my car with no problems. A former co-worker uses Gatorskins and I remember he came in late a few times because he had to fix a flat while riding on Annandale Rd. So thumbs to the All condition Armadillo tires.

All thieves are the same. Based from what I’ve seen in the auto industry, thieves will go for the easiest item to steal. IF this individual had the intent to steal, then he was looking for a “bike victim”. If he thought his had recovered his stolen bike, then he should have called the the police to accompany him….if he was smart.

PP issued tickets to us cyclists while inside HP = gas money for the department. Please heed the laws while inside the park. I would rather put that ga$ money in my own vehicle or energy bars or tubes or a new tire. I know 2 DC Cops that are hardcore cyclists and I wonder what happens to them when they get stopped by PP.

Prospect St. which is parallel to M St is another option if you want to avoid the M St. Zoo.

Sorry for your loss. Just like what CCrew said, check with bldg management to see what they can do for you. If you saved the serial number from the bike, email the place where you purchased it (hopefully it’s local) and also email local bike stores in the area to watch out for your Salsa after you’re given them the info on it. Email me the info and description on your bike as well off forum so I can also watch out for it just in case it comes in our shop. Law enforcement will take notes on the incident but will not follow up not unless it’s one of their own bikes. So try that and hopefully your steed in recovered.

It’s still ride-able. Provided the cables are not binding but the handling will be twitchy. I’m sure she noticed something was not right but she carried on anyway. I hope she operates a motor car normally.

The one that took the cake for me was this rider wearing her HELMET on BACKWARDS plus the FORK on her bike was facing the rear of the bike while she was riding it. Now that’s a WTOP Knuckle head.

About once I week I see someone wearing a helmet backwards with the straps dangling. I never know if I should offer to help or if this is yet another fashion trend that has passed me by.

Beijing needs more windy days to make room for new pollution.

Yeah, but think about the fuel to be burned. Perhaps heavy traffic on the way to work.

Yeah, but think about the gas to be used. Perhaps heavy traffic on the way to work.
