Participantdrevil, are you planning on having a pointless prize for this again for 2019?

I am on the list here, but cannot find myself anywhere in the Freezingsaddles website, I’m neither in the individual leaderboard nor under “People”. I have reauthorized Strava via link sent by Chuck to allow my private info to be seen by FS. However, when I click “Login” on the far right side of FS website, it takes me to the Strava/FS Authorization dialog. When I click “Authorize”, it give me the following:
Authorization Results
Hi, HF.So you are a Strava athlete, we get that. Unfortunately, one of these two things is true:
you are not registered with any of the configured Freezing Saddles teams, or
you did not give Strava permission for us to “View your complete Strava profile”. Without that, we can’t see what clubs you belong to.
If the latter is true, try to login again and grant us permission to “View your complete Strava profile”.Somthin’ ain’t right…
FYI, my Strava name is different from my forum name, FWIW.

Did you join the Freezing Saddles 2019 Strava team? If not, please do so now, and try again on the FS website: https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize
I’ve resolved several issues in the past couple of days that were causing trouble for people in registering and showing up on the leaderboard.

“Ten points are given for every day someone rides at least a mile, and an additional one point is given for each mile ridden, up to 100 miles in a week.”
Since Starva is being used to track rides and Strava starts each week on Monday and ends each week on Sunday, will each week (to earn up to 100 points) start on Monday and end on Sunday?Strava uses ISO 8601 standard weeks (what, there’s a standard week), which are Monday-Sunday. So does MySQL. So that’s what we will use. Sometimes, you have to take an easy win.

Thank you for this!
Unfortunately I believe I’ve followed all of the steps (have data from the 1st out there, joined the FS group on strava, checked all the grant access boxes, etc) , but still get an error when doing the oauth for the site. I had this issue when I registered, but thought maybe it was a hold over from last year’s data or something, if I was premature.
Authorization Failed
There was an error authorizing the Freezing Saddles application to access your Strava account.
Error code: ATHLETE_NOT_FOUNDNo urgency from me, I just want to make sure I don’t get bumped out for lack of participation
My strava account number is 643261.
Please try this and let me know if it works: https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize

Richard Does this mean we have to authorize strava to read our private activities now? Because that’s what I just got from your message.
Thanks for all your work on this, and for stepping up in the first place!

No, the authorization form still gives you the choice of whether to allow Strava to read your private activities. You can still withhold those and participate.
However, due to Strava tightening user security they no longer grant the right to view your full profile automatically to apps that previously had been granted access to read your public activities. So in the authentication page Strava sends you as part of this process, there’s a box labeled “View your complete Strava profile” that has to be checked in order for Freezing Saddles software to view your team membership. It needs that in order to track what team you are on. That won’t be an issue until the Happy Hour when the teams are announced, however.

ParticipantI’ve just fixed the issues with the Strava Authorization feature on the Freezing Saddles web site. Everyone who had trouble doing this in the last 10 days or so should re-authorize by going to https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize now!
If you had previously authorized AND you allowed Strava to read your private activities, and it went through, you don’t need to re-authorize. If you only let it read your public activities though you will need to authorize again as Strava changed it so that we can’t tell what team you are on unless we get permission to read your full profile.

I can help with the software part. I’ve got some programming experience and have been trying to set up a local install of the software to figure it out as well. Happy to help with testing.
spelter, that’s awesome. I’m reaching out by email to include you in the Freezing Saddles 2019 technology team.

ParticipantIf folks are interested in helping out on the technology side, I would welcome contributions from programmers, designers, and people willing to test the software.
This is my first year running it, and I’m still getting my legs pedaling around this excellent system that hozn has so generously created and maintained.
We have a Slack chat system for the maintainers, freezingsaddles.slack.com, that I’d like people who are helping to join. About a dozen people joined that last year, though right now it’s just me, hozn, and jrenaut active on it.
We have the option of opening up the Slack to a wider audience if there is demand. I’d be in favor of that.
