ParticipantI am interested in this because it has a built in screen. I had a GoPro for a while and really liked it but having to add on the display screen just added to the cost. It was still a great camera and I hope the best for this product as I think we need more quality option in the market.

I found this out the hard way. For me, it was not that the rack did not fit, but rather that my hatch was made of crabon or some other non-metallic compound.
Oh that sounds expensively painful!

ParticipantI’d rock it.

ParticipantI’m ok with this, I hope it makes some cyclist think before they do stupid stuff. I know I have run the occasional light and this will make me think twice about my actions moving forward.

ParticipantAlong with Cycling I am also an avid Motorcyclist. I am not sure about Cycling helmets but Motorcycle helmets have a shelf life if you are entering any type of racing event. 5 years for most sanctioning bodies. I was told the reason for this has mostly to do with the foam. Over time the foam breaks down from sweat and compression from moving around on the head over the years. No as far as riding on the street my main helmet is about 7 years old now and the new equivalent of that helmet is over $500 so I keep rocking the old lid. I do have a couple newer helmets that I used when I was racing but the only reason I bought those was because of the age of my good old stand by. Not to mention I didn’t want to destroy my fav. helmet when I crashed.

ParticipantOne of these days I am actually going to make it to this ride. I have heard good things about the group and would like to check it out sometime. Ok actually I want an excuse to go have a good beer at Lost Dog and riding is a good way to prep for beer consumption

In my experience, Prius drivers tend to just be terrible. Not generally aggressive, but total brain-stem drivers (the actual brain doesn’t seem to be engaged in any fashion whatsoever). Its obviously not universal; my lovely girlfriend drives a Prius C, and lots of Prius drivers are considerate and good, but they definitely seem to be the make and model that attracts far more than their fair share of idiots.
When I started noticing this pattern several years ago, my working theory was that people drive Priuses to feel good about how green they are, and seeing a cyclist pisses them off because it reminds them that they are still driving cars and burning gas and knocks them right off their nice smug-cloud.
After driving my girlfriends Prius a few times, my new theory is that 75% of the info in front of you when driving a Prius is focused on fuel efficiency, and Prius drivers get obsessed with maximizing mileage, so they tend to not want to slow down and re-accelerate for any reason.
I would have to agree with most all of this statement. I drive 50 miles round-trip to and from work every day. I take 66 60 267 to Herndon and back. My disdain for Prius drivers started long before I ever got into cycling. At first it is like they think they are saving the world so it is in their right to keep traffic at a moderate pace by doing 50 in the left lane. But the more i paid attention it is the fact that they are just so disconnected from what is going on around them. They just do not give a crap about anybody but themselves.
Even when I am driving the electric car and trying to maximize range I make an effort to stay out of peoples way so as not to impede their progress. This is something lost on most Prius drivers.

ParticipantThat’s a sweet idea, Right there in the water park. It really is a shame the Revolution closed down the city hub there on 20th. I know when I spoke to them they said they did good with accessories but struggled with rentals and that was their main reason for opening that location.

ParticipantCongrats! Keep at it and you will one day be saying I just did 50 miles and feel like I can go our and do more.
I do MVT all the time, its a great challenge especially the last 2 miles leading to the end.

ParticipantI always do a recovery ride, It helps to clear the acids out of my muscles and makes the following day not as painful. I do try to do something a little less intense for the recovery ride.
For instance, Yesterday (Sat) I did 70 miles, Today I did a recovery of 20 miles on the flats at Hanes Point.
My legs feel tired right now but not sore and I feel as though I could go out and ride some more.

ParticipantI Live right there next to the tunnel and was at Long Bridge park for the fireworks. The place was a mad house! Its great that people walked or biked for sure.

ParticipantNope, NCVC doesn’t accept everyone.
I sent a email to the Penn State team to see what I can do to get on the team. By looking at the team picture I might be the oldest member of the team by 15 years

ParticipantI would like to join a team and have tried but was turned down. Other teams in the area require you to have a certain amount of sanctioned races under your belt before you can join. I will revisit this aspect again next year when I have more saddle time. My College is in PA and they do not have a team in this area, thank you for the recommendation on that, I hadn’t even thought to look in that direction.
Hope your husband heeled up quick, I heard there were a lot of crashes in Reston and when i go out there I saw a few riders pretty banned and bruised.

ParticipantI am going to try and do some CAT5 races next year and some 35+ races.
My school schedule has hurt my ability to take part in my shop rides. School ends in August for the semester so I am hoping to get involved with some of those rides and some more weekend rides in the coning weeks as away to stay motivated.
eminva: Thanks for the link!
