ParticipantGreat! I am looking forward to meeting you!

ParticipantDinner & Bikes is only one week from today! Have you bought your tickets yet? We have also made a Facebook Event Page for those that prefer to receive info that way.
I hope to see you there!

ParticipantI currently have a secret goal of getting my brother to ride the Unity Tour. I know that several guys he works with do. The Climate Ride overnights 20 minutes from where he lives one the first night so hopefully he will bring my nieces over to see me when I am there and I can get the one that likes bikes more (she is 5) to start working on him for next year
Shhh… don’t tell him!

My beef is that they often park their squad cars in the space between the sidewalk curb cuts making it more difficult to access the sidewalk. So on the one hand they’ll ticket cyclists for taking a short cut when there is no traffic coming and on the other hand they will block the way that they want them to go. I just find it all ironic, that’s all.
Ah, thank you! One of the most recent times I was coming off of there NPS Police decided to back a van into the area I was about to come out of into the crosswalk in order to turn around. Apparently waiting the extra 15 seconds for me to cross would have killed the guy.

I’m sure they will be ticketing again soon for those who go the wrong way up the brief stretch coming off the bridge…
Can you clarify? I only use the bridge occasionally so am not quite picturing what over there has a right and wrong way.

ParticipantI think I will be riding this year as preparation for another ride I am doing in September. I am planning on doing 60 miles Saturday and the Sunday ride as well. However, I am somewhat slow and not at all good at hills. 😮 And while I have done an almost 60 mile ride before, I have not done two long rides like that back to back.
One question I have for you- do you recommend staying at a hotel there or do you drive in each day?
Thank you!

Record store in DC?
Here is a list of record stores: http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues?state=DC
I can’t help with the best.
I was a Smash! girl back in the day but honestly have not been in the new location since their move.

Jury is still out on jughandles.
Jughandles just make all your friends think despite the merit based scholarship you are completely unable to distinguish right from left at 19 years of age. 21 years later I still have 3 friends that remember that first time in a car with me driving.

Interestingly, the wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_traffic_circles_in_New_Jersey) has a picture of one of the ones I was thinking of (recently replaced). It was a circle with a bisecting road through it, and a bunch of stoplights.
Ah, yes, the Marlton circle. Amazingly how easily I blocked that out given I drive through it pretty much every time I go to or leave NJ. Ok, I concede the point. NJ has bad ones too.

I can think of some heinous exceptions.
They must be in the north, or as people from that part of the state call it “Joisey.”

I know we have at least one Brit here, and we must have some New Englanders.
And a native NJ-ian. We do traffic circles and we do them proudly and properly- without lights!

ParticipantTo the driver of WMATA bus 5311, route 70 headed northbound at 6:40pm Tuesday-
I guess those love taps on your horn were meant for me, cycling legally in the right hand lane of 7th heading north of I toward Mass? Did ignoring you just make me seem hard to get so you thought snuggling up to me with as you pulled up to those easy girls just waving and flagging you down without even coming close to passing me would be a better way to get my attention? Did you think if I saw how they wanted you I would find you more desirable? You made eye contact so I know you knew I was there. You wanted me to see you, all young and studly behind the wheel of ~22 tons of articulated bus.
But no, I just took my 40 year old middle aged self on north, ignoring you still. Passing the people obviously there waiting just for you. And then you caught up with me again, making sure to make eye contact with me as you pulled along side of me. I thought we had an understanding. But being young and foolish you still seemed to think I was playing hard to get and again you tried to snuggle up with me, like a great blue whale next to a blue fish. But luckily like a blue fish I can be fast too and was able to dart ahead as you came in again, nearly running me into the curb. I stopped and looked back in disbelief. And yelled. I called you out on your stupidity. I made you look foolish in front of those easy girls that were waving and waiting for you. I yelled at you to stop fucking with me.
I don’t know if it was because I humiliated you or because you thought the light on my helmet was a camera, but I didn’t see you for the rest of my trip north. But I have your number and address. I already left you a message this morning and you can expect a love letter in the mail soon.
xo sweetie… until we meet again

Not to be a girl about this, but what’s the dress code for this thing?! Bike parking and little black dresses do NOT mix in my mind! Admittedly, I’m fairly new at this..!
Last year I biked there in sequins and heels! Just watch out for places you could snag your nylons. A well placed band-aid on the bike frame here or there never hurt anyone.

ParticipantIt has been over a year since I biked there and I couldn’t find actual bike parking when I went. I had to lock to a fence, but my bike was fine. They claim to have (limited) bike parking now http://www.dcunited.com/matchday/directions-parking/bicycling-to-rfk-stadium
