ParticipantI tried to adopt “Let it Go” this year. I even have it framed on my desk at work in a frame with a bicycle chain.
But, I am really bad at it. For example, this morning I spent at least 30 extra minutes getting to work because I called in every car parked in the bike lanes to 311 while running errands before work. I even exchanged words with a few of the drivers. I think I need more practice.

Ditto. Should have just kept scrolling and saved myself some time!

ParticipantI do most of my grocery shopping at the Penn Quarter farmers market on Thursdays (the grocery store gives me hives so luckily the BF takes that as his chore since he does not like my choices in paper products
and typically use two Ortlieb roll top panniers. They hold A LOT. For the “big” days (when I have to pick up my two cases of yogurt or 25 pounds of fruit) I use my Burley Travoy. I also do a CSA in Adams Morgan and can tell you that eggs are not nearly as fragile as you think… I have not managed to break any yet!
Now, if I could just bike to my CSA in Upper Marlboro. Alas, PG has way too far to come with the roads and the general behavior of their drivers before I will try that trip. I have creatively driven it many times in an attempt to find a way to do it but not even I am that crazy.

ParticipantTo the a$$clown driving the BMW at 11th & K NW- of course you didn’t see me coming through the intersection. You had crawled much too far up the tail of the truck in front of you that had decided to cut me off and menace the pedestrians in the crosswalk. I am not sure why you think that means you get to curse me out and demand I yield to your turn. That is not how this works, jerky. When you can’t see the traffic approach the intersection you are turning through, you are doing it wrong. You have a nice day too f@$%er.

Maybe if the cycletrack wasn’t put down the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue, but instead bike lanes where put on the right side of the road, this wouldn’t be an issue.
Oh, you mean like the pedestrian “launching zones” on 15th St and L St? Yeah, it wouldn’t make a difference. Pedestrians would still be standing in it.

Something about driving your car across the country to participate in Climate Ride seems wrong. :p
P.S.-Just giving you a hard time…
But, if you raise at least $5000 they will offset your carbon emissions for a year up to 17 tons! At least they are this year.

I think DC could solve the national debt by stationing police officers at maybe a half dozen intersections on 15th NW. They could wait until the northbound light goes green and just pull over the idiot who turns left ON THE RED ARROW every single light cycle.
The ones that drive me nuts are the ones that then stop while running the red light and wave me through, like they are doing me some kind of big favor. In the past week I have stopped twice at 15th & Mass to tell them they are running a red light. They then ask me if I am going or not and when I reply with “what should you care, you have a red light anyway and if you go you are RUNNING A RED” they just try to accelerate through me. But hey, I am the scofflaw ruining the streets so what do I know.

ParticipantThis morning I went on a recreational ride. Tomorrow I plan the same but may need to wake up earlier to have coffee to deal with the pre-9am weekday crazy out there!
To the driver of the truck with the unsecured scrap metal in the bed- OMFG! Either slow the hell down or tie that shit down! When it came flying out of your truck bed as you sped across the 14th St bridge, the cyclist and I passing each other were both a bit shaken and obviously relieved when the first bounce changed its course back to the car lanes and away from the bike/ ped access lane. Luckily the other drivers on the road appeared to have been sufficiently caffeinated to put their video game skills to the test in real life scenarios this morning and no one was hit by the multiple large flying pieces of metal.
To the woman that stopped in the middle of the Custis to adjust her iPod- 1. really?? 2. I mean, really?? 3. MOVE OFF THE TRAIL!! I would credit you with the sense to have at least stopped at the top, and not the bottom of a hill, but I really think that was dumb luck on your part because you were already riding with headphones in both ears, thought it was appropriate to stop your bike, dismount, put the kickstand down, and then stand there in the middle of the lane to deal with your all so critical iPod emergency.
