ParticipantOn the MVT the bright lights (and super bright flashers) are annoying but the worst offenders, for me at least, are the ninja riders and runners that have no lights, are usually wearing black, and are usually wearing no reflective gear. The other night (~8pm) I passed five separate cyclists without a single piece of reflective clothing or light on their bike.

ParticipantI’m in for a couple of laps and a donation.

ParticipantI managed 2,000 miles this year. Not bad for a guy carrying around 200 extra pounds.

This would be a totally ridiculous purchase but damn are these frames sexy.

I hate to say it, but this does actually tend to be true… I’ve been on the receiving end of some pretty vile looks because I’m a Clydesdale.
Eh, it goes with the territory, unfortunately. It’s their loss, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

I wore shorts straight thru the winter last year.
Same here. Anyone know of a good place for long socks for tree trunk legs?

Reminds me of seeing two guys walking their bikes down the 14th St Bridge/MVT slight hill on VA side. Neither seemed to have a flat or any sort of bicycle problem so I have to say I was baffled.
I saw that the other day and thought the same thing. What’s really crazy is when you see more than two people walking like that.
After getting to the top of the hill last night (after three HR stops) I kind of wish I had walked it up instead.

ParticipantTo the lady that was walking her bike up Martha Custis yesterday while I was getting my HR under control before making the final climb – keep on rocking!

Very true. I’d also say that being a pretty tall, somewhat substantial guy with tattoos, though completely fluffy and harmless at heart, tends to cut down on people putting out a bunch of ego
Try being fat and walking into an ELITE shop, the level of ego you get is beyond redonkulous.

ParticipantThe two things on my wish list right now are:
– Garmin: no idea but something that will do what my iPhone does with Strava but with a HRM and a cadence tracker.
– Felt Z3. Saw a guy hammering one on Crystal Drive the other day and just loved the look.NicDiesel
ParticipantIf anyone has a cardiologist recommendation please let me know. I’m overdue for my five year EBT/heart catheterization.

ParticipantDoes something like this take place every year? I’d love to take part next year if so.

ParticipantI read “The Immortal Class” a few months ago while on a layover. Not great but readable. I picked Up “Nerves of Steel” off of Amazon the other day for $15 but haven’t had a chance to start reading it yet, though it looks great from the couple of pages I glanced at before putting it on the shelf.
Anybody here read “The Yellow Jersey”? That’s next after I finish “Confederacy of Dunces”.

ParticipantI’m going for my first appointment/physical with Dr. Richey in Old Town next week. A very active coworker of mine highky recommended him so I’ll let you know how it goes.

ParticipantIt’s hard for me to see a film with JGL and Michael Shannon being a total disaster. That said, I doubt JGL can rock the wheels of steel like Bacon did in “Quicksilver”.
