ParticipantI ran cobbled together 1x setups for a few years before my current bike which is a 1×11.. The Narrow Wide front chain ring with a proper length chain will have you covered on 1×8 and 1×9 setups. If you are running 10 speeds and higher, definitely spend the 40 bucks for a clutch derailleur. I LOVE not hearing the chain slap the stay going off jumps!!!

A mirror has sprouted at the blind turn on Custis where it comes out (or enters) the I-66 underpass between Bon Air Park and Westover Park (formerly tunnel of eternal darkness). I hear it has been up several days, but I went by in the dark before today. I am not sure it is large enough, but it might help in avoiding some nastiness there. I am looking forward to using it more regularly.
I don’t ride that way often, but have thought that underpass needed a mirror- nice to hear there is one up now!

ParticipantI’d love to pick this up for a friend of mine! He recently moved to Maryland to work for EMS and is looking for something to commute on!

The Prince William Cycling Club has been doing weekly night rides (weather permitting). Last night was 15 miles, about 1000 feet of elevation, and less then 10 cars during the entire ride!!!

ParticipantI was thinking more specifically right around where the trail crosses Route 28, where there isn’t anything within “walking distance”.. I’m not interested in near the beltway, that’s why I said “out west”…

ParticipantI rode it last fall with a group and found the trail in great shape and a lot of fun!! I enjoyed it more than the W&OD. Lots of scenery changes, less foot traffic….

ParticipantI have a TS 2.2 that gets a lot of use. I added a base and a rotor truing gauge to it. It does everything I need currently, but I plan on upgrading to a TS-4 so I can more easily handle thru-axle wheels and larger width stuff…
I haven’t used the Feedback truing stand, but looking at the pictures I can see not getting dish right becoming an issues after a couple adjustments.. I do like (and own) one of their repair stands though!!!
One other option that I will throw out there:
http://www.performancebike.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10052_10551_1030340_-1_400036__400036This is a terrific, BASIC truing stand… Set up is very fast, it folds up very small (comparatively), and the price is right… I had one of these when I first started my mobile business, and trued many a wheel just fine

ParticipantAnother vote for the Weehoo!! While my 7 year old loves riding his own bike, he understands how much fun it can be bombing down the trail behind Dad too….
