As I was finishing up my ride I passed someone who I spotted wearing the telltale green reflectors (LisaE, I think, based on Strava Flyby) – I shouted out “Hi Freezing Saddles!” as I went by, but I demonstrated my usual lack of social graces and didn’t slow down to chat with them.
LOL. I thought I heard something as someone sped past me. A belated “hi!”

Participant3/2/21 – Little Free Library (with your bike in the pic!)
There are so many little free libraries near me in Falls Church that it would have been a fun challenge to see how many I could visit within 1.5 miles of my house. But instead I visited the one that also features a Little Dog Toy Library [emoji240].

Participant3/1/21 – Pig or BBQ Joint
“The Man Slopping Pigs” by Richard Beyer (uncle of current Congressmen Don Beyer Jr), a cast-aluminum statue installed in 1984 in front of Don Beyer Volvo store in Falls Church, VA.
The Beyer brothers, Richard and Don Sr, grew up on Springhill Farm in McLean, where their mother, Clara, kept pigs, so a portion of the story surrounding the statue goes.

Participant2/25/21 – Duck (likeness of animal or the word)
Not long ago I was riding around the neighborhood and spotted a family of concrete ducks with umbrellas. Easy peasy; I can find those again, right? 3.5 miles of circling up and down and around the hood, I finally relocated them. But due to a lowering sun in just the wrong part of the sky, my snapshot was totally unimpressive.
So I kept riding and spotted this little duckling staring furtively through a red little free library door saying, “pick me pick me!”

Participant2/24/21 – “Charles and Diana” Subanagram Word (5 letters or more)
At first I was going to head to my favorite El Tio Tex-Mex Grill to snap a shot of the menu. But instead I found double subanagrams at the intersection of Cedar Ln and Linden Ln.

Participant2/23/21 – Mosaic (likeness or word)
Colored glass is my favorite material for mosaics. Since stained glass hanging in my own home probably wouldn’t count, I offer up some lovely glass seen in a nearby church.

Participant2/22/21 – Purple House
I found a purple and green treehouse, a house with purple shutters, a house with a purple window that I thought was a door from a distance, and even a cool art design on the back of a house with various shades of purple incorporated.
But since we’re only allowed one photo (and I don’t know if collages are acceptable), I offer up a lavender house. The cool treehouse can be seen here: https://strava.app.link/4UKOvIZU5db

Nice music and photos, but I’m pretty sure your find has to involve a bike ride.
LOL. Just having a bit of fun.

Participant2/19/21 – Planet(s) – likeness or name of a specific planet or the word “planet”
Outside my front door and as far as I can see are sheets of ice, so my bike is staying in the warmth and safety of the house. But today’s target has introduced an earworm that just won’t budge.
So my offering to the hunt is The Planets, Op. 32: 4. Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity by Gustav Holst which joyfully incorporates lots of jolly horn parts.

Participant2/17/21 – Bird House or Bird Bath
This was fun. I would have kept going but my phone battery tanked fast so I rushed home. I found one neighborhood tree with 8 bird houses hanging from it!! I also found a bird feeder that was truly the place for lunch. The photo’s not great because my phone is ancient, but at least 3 of the 6 or so birds taking turns feeding are visible. I almost even caught the nearby squirrel who tried to sneak up on the party but he got camera shy.

Participant2/16/21 – Crown or Mask (with eyeholes)
The “crown” atop the jester’s head on this bottle of Prophecy Pinot Noir seems to fit the spirit of Mardi Gras. Found at the only store I enter these days—CVS.
