Reminder that Velocity Bikes in Alexandria sold about 100 of these ofos sans lock (like this one). ofo offered them to several NPOs when they skipped town last year. I’ll note that Phoenix Bikes, Gearin’ Up, and Bikes for the World all passed on the offer from ofo because they suspected the bikes would become “use it until it breaks, then discard” litter. Here’s one data point to support that theory.

Yeah, I brought a handlebar in to work the other morning to attach to that one I found, so someone could ride it again, but they have a goofy welded solid box headset that can’t accept any standard replacement parts. :( I assume NPS came by and tossed it in the trash truck yesterday.

I never forgot about this one Pete! I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled this whole time with no success until this morning.
This lovely mo’fo (a delightful portmanteau I’ve coined for the purpose) was sitting at the crosswalk of 17th st by the WW2 memorial this morning.
It has a broken wing, but Drevil could probably still make use of it without having to change his bike riding technique much.

I think I spotted this guy leaving the scene.

No fan of contemplating riding ON the Pike, in traffic, especially rush hour and dark… of those three routes, I’d pick the one that skirts along RT 50, for myself.

Or just ride on the sidewalk for a few blocks and try not to hit any wapo online writers or whatever.

In all seriousness I have ridden on the sidewalks around there a few times for the obvious reasons. Your indirect routes aren’t too bad, just very hilly in parts with some “annoying” road crossings.

Spicy Chicken “potstickers” from DAK! in shirlington. Deep (double?)fried and slathered in very spicy sauce, honestly there are a bunch of better things on the menu there, I will not be paying 9 bucks for these again. 4/10 stars

No, but it is the most adorable thing I’ve seen on Strava in a while now 😮

Steamed dumplings and wonton soup from the place next to the “Crystal City Restaurant”. Pretty much what you would expect from the place next to the “Crystal City Restaurant”. But after singlehandedly clearing the entirety of of the MVT with a child’s toy, these dumplings were sweet succor.

That sidewalk on rt1 and ramp down to the hairpin was cleared when I passed it an hour ago, made me happy.

Uless I was just hallucinating, also possible.

Hi all, joining up. Make Collusion Great Again!

Good to have you on board.

Benihana decided to bow out, but we wish him the best and probably will see him at a thing or two this winter anyways right! We also look forward to reading the salacious tell-all he will publish soon about his time with us.

I was assuming it was the other way – if you ride to metro and board during peak time, that counts as one ride, and if you depart metro during peak and start a ride during peak time it counts as another.

I’ve had some rides that have one component but not the other due to leaving Metro after peak. What says the prize sponsor?

What makes sense to me, is that you get 1 point for each time riding the train with your bike during peak hours. If you break the rides up to and from the station and try to get 2 points for the one train ride, that’s not being fair to everyone else. As long as you’re “in the system” at the right time, it’s all good.

    Calvinball is hidden.

I propose that those who select and wear one of Calvin’s friendship bracelets inside to the closing happy hour (or better yet forever and ever ) get extra points (to be determined by the scorekeeper wizrd)

Okay, that’s just weird! I can see that you’re on the team’s Strava club. I can see that other members of the team’s Strava club are on the leaderboard. And I can see that you are in Friends of BAFS, which means you successfully authorized Freezing Saddles to read your Strava miles. You might want to send a message to obscurerichard to ask what is going on.

Shot in the dark guess from me: Greenbelt and Rod, did you catch this year’s security authorization change to read private info from your Strava profile? (Click the 2nd option and resubmit to be sure) https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize
Grandfathered-in authorization from previous years won’t work anymore in the BAFS website, but probably look the same on the Strava groups.
