ParticipantAdditional details:
So I was hit by a car while riding back from a meeting Sunday [2/14] afternoon. I’m pretty much ok, nothing broken – except my bike – but I have a couple bad contusions on my left thigh and I also whacked my arm pretty hard when I hit the pavement. Already feeling much better then I did late Sunday but I am still really stiff on the left side and will be out of the office on Tuesday [2/16].
…
My arm is much better but my leg is still pretty sore and stiff. But even there the contusion on the thigh is looking better and I am able to sit in a chair ok today [2/17] where yesterday I still pretty much had to keep my leg straight.
the road [bike] has a broken seat stay. and the rear wheel is completely trashed. not sure about the power meter yet, will probably need that to be checked out by the bike shop. Same thing with the front wheel
And my jacket, bib tights, two layers of shoe covers and the buckle on my left shoe are also trashed
he [the driver] tried to pass me on the left while I was making a left turn
the place he passed had no shoulder on the road so I was in the single travel lane and had been singling for a couple hundred meters.
err sign[a]ling that is
Good news is the bike shop has the replacement frame for my primary CX bike and has started to build that. Bad news is I won’t be able to do the race I was supposed to on Sunday [2/21]

ParticipantIt’s definitely here now, and I think it’ll have moved on within an hour. Not sure where that leaves me with regard to the happy hour, but I’d rather stay in than risk it.

ParticipantSo who’s going? I want to come out but I think I’ll wait out the narrow line of intense thunderstorms that is about to roll through ~30 minutes from now (if my WeatherBug radar map reading skills are not way off).

ParticipantAs someone who rarely checks the forum (mainly because I never really got into it) and who was prodded to join the challenge by a coworker, I enjoy the data collection / competitive aspect of the challenge even though I don’t participate much socially (when I do, I definitely participate more on the Strava team page than here). I check my team’s Strava club leaderboard and the main Freezing Saddles data site pretty much daily, to see how I’m doing compared to my teammates and how my team is doing relative to other teams (and occasionally I check my individual stats against others’). I’m not super social in general, being more of an introvert, and I also don’t like the forum paradigm either. That Strava’s social interaction interface resembles Facebook’s more than this forum’s does is one of the reasons why I participate there more often than here, and another big reason is that I’m already on Strava anyway since I like to check up on my weekly goals for running and biking and give kudos to people I’m following. I also don’t like that the forum has an insecure (non-HTTPS) login form (whereas Strava does have HTTPS), which is why I’m using a weak / throwaway password here but not on Strava.
I’m not sure I’ll be checking the forums again super soon, but feel free to reply anyway. Just thought I’d share my $0.02…
