2/15/2021 — “St Skeletor’s Day” subanagram. Like CaseyKane50, I also visited Whiskey and Oyster. I’ve never tried either their whiskeys or their oysters, but their Taco Tuesday specials are great.

    2/14/21 – Heart

2/14/2021 — heart. My bike at one of the four temporary installations at 1550 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn. The installations show messages submitted via social media. Some of the messages are heartfelt — e.g., thank you notes to essential workers. And some are funny — e.g., Molly V’s message to Dan T: “I love you with all my butt! I’d say my heart but my butt is bigger.”

2/13/2021 — Diner. Scavenger-hunting and quaxing at Bob and Edith’s Diner in Crystal City, where I had the pleasure of running into Boomer2U and HokieBeth, who were doing the same thing!

Safety to Nome is a documentary about the Iditarod Trail Invitational, which makes Freezing Saddles look like a walk in the park on a fine summer’s day. Worth watching for the aerial shots alone.

2/10/21 – 5 or 6 point Star (but not on American flag)

On February 10, 2017, Adam Levine – frontman of Maroon 5 – received the 2601st star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. (I didn’t realize there were so many?!)

2/10/2021 — star. Going with the music theme, here’s one of the murals at the Birchmere in Alexandria, with a “you are here” star on the map.

2/8/21 – the word “Japanese” on a sign

2/8/2021 — the word “Japanese.” My experience was similar to cvcalhoun’s: I decided to bike to Japanese Auto City, and I even checked Google Streetview to make sure the sign was easily visible from the street. But when I got there, the sign had been taken down, even though you could still see where the letters used to be. So here’s my bike at a nearby Japanese restaurant instead:

2/2/21 – Dog (but not your own)

2/2/2021 — dog. My original plan was to go to the nearby dog park, where there were bound to be dogs romping in the snow. But on my way there, I passed a woman walking her Scottish Terrier. The dog’s black fur was such a striking contrast with the white snow that I u-turned and asked if I could take her dog’s photo. The very nice lady agreed and even tried to get her baffled dog to pose for me. And we had a pleasant conversation about how wonderful it is to have a real snowfall, after two years without.
