ParticipantNice to see that PARKED CARS takes precedence over the safety and convenience of MUT users.
There must be a parked car lobby.

ParticipantI’ve only read the abstract above, not the full article, but the researchers seem to be assuming that there are two separate populations (cyclists and drivers) which really isn’t the case.
Since most cyclists are drivers wouldn’t it stand to reason that if they are reckless biking they would be just as reckless driving (especially since the risks are much lower in the latter)? It’s not like people suddenly change personality when they get on a bike. I’m slow and careful on my bike and I’m a slow, cautious driver too though I admit I’m less cautious driving because I’ve got tons of safety goodies protecting me.
But I agree that driving and walking infractions have been internalized as the norm while people go ballistic over a perceived cycling infraction. I can only presume that is because cyclists are viewed as the “other”.

Not that. Cyclists (including myself) are scofflaws to save energy/save time. Citing personal safety is just moral preening.
You do not speak for me. Safety is my number one concern and I’m very rarely in a hurry to go anywhere on a bike and if I was, I’d just use another, faster mode.

ParticipantOpps! Thanks. Will fix.

I too wear a hole in the same spot before the rest of the shoe wears out. Who’d you have do this work?

ParticipantSounds like the work of “Con”-imists.

ParticipantDone.

ParticipantI routinely use Best Foot Forward in Pentagon City. Have been going there for at least ten years and have always had very good service from them. Family owned business and if they don’t think they can fix something or that it isn’t worth it they will tell you. They have also fixed some airline-mauled luggage for me as well.

ParticipantI have been known to show up at meetings with helmet marks across my forehead. I propose a new rule to counter this unsightly effect: No meetings before 10:00 am! This gives hair a chance to dry out too.

Participant“pay attention to the nuances of quick-release lever position”????
There are nuances??? Who knew?!

ParticipantWhile it is great that they are expanding the trail’s width it is absolutely insane to expect peds and cyclists to cross highway exit/entrance ramps esp with poor sight lines (before the construction began). I always take the eastern route along Boundary Channel Drive and the Connector Road to avoid those dangerous crossings. Tunnels and/or bridges are needed badly.

ParticipantAugh. You may want to get a tetanus shot after falling in there.

ParticipantAlso please keep in mind that not all of the trails around here are plowed/treated in the winter so you will want a backup plan like metro.

I treat my commute as training for cx and mtb races and it seems like all the fun stuff there is being taken away! The bollards at the top and bottom of the bridge are gone, it sounds like they’re getting rid of the tight 90 turns and now I won’t even have an excuse to launch off the sidewalk and practice my drops at speed (and see just what it’s gonna take to finally pinch flat…).
And they’re probably soon going to fix the crumbling concrete section on the bridge that I bunny hop over. Lame. Boring. Too roadie.
There’s always the Custis! And don’t forget about the trolls under the trollheim.

ParticipantSo sorry this happened. Be glad you didn’t sprain or break anything.
Can’t offer any advice on 29ers.
I suspect the cause is a tunnel troll.
